wont grow old said:Ok so whats the deal with general tires.By the sounds of what these guys are saying, its a good tire that also has a good cost.Sound like a few have had some bad exp.with generals.I am going to need tires before too long and any input would sure help.!!!!
wo1sjb said:Seems having these tires is worse than having your sister work in a whorehouse. Insult to injury, you have to wear a dress when you drive a vehicle with these tires. :dontknow:![]()
On a serious note, tire rack has them listed as summer tires, not all-season.....anyone driven them in the cold and rain?

"The quality control process at the plant was very poor & often resulted in production errors & the creating of bad rubber, which was not made in accordance with General Tire's specifications. The plant operations were driven entirely by production numbers. The company, & in particular the plant managers, pushed the workers so hard to produce excessive numbers of tires that things simply could not be done right all the time." -- Jeff Mullins, former Continental General employee

wheredwhogo? said:you do realize that this recall was in 2000 and it was a recall for "normal" tires...nothing in comparison to UHP's...the tires that were recalled came stock on navigators and such.
Continental General Tire plans to announce a recall today of the 16-inch tire that was standard equipment on the 1998 and 1999 model year Lincoln Navigator
