Upper radiator hose

Is there something inside the upper radiator hose? When I grab it I feel what feels like a spring on the radiator side of the hose. I changed my thermostat today and never even thought to look inside to see whats in there. BTW the thermostat is pretty easy. Even the fourth bolt.

To prevent hose collapse, hard pipes are a popular replacement.

I did just find out this weekend that the hard pipes leak if you drive the truck in cold weather. Just an FYI.

Installer error hahaha, do the hard pipes have a nipple on the end of them or just straight pipe?

Not on my truck, so it could have been installer error.

Mine does once in a while, gonna take apart and use a sealer, can't tighten it anymore. If it keeps happening im gonna get a new oe one and use braided ss covering to match my catch can hoses. Don't want it dripping on my jmb tanks they im getting. .....
