Viper engine Lifter tap

wow...im very interested to hear what some of our experts have to say about that...i thought my valve train was loud with the H/S rockers with no baffles...damn

could be
valve spring
push rod
valve
lifter
cam
piston ring land

either way , dont rev it up anymore till you get it diagnosed

not good

It does sound like a loose rocker, hopefully that's the case bro. Agree with removing valve covers and looking around. Bent pushrod or broken spring are also likely culprits.
Good luck:eek:

I brought the truck into the shop. They said the main tension-er for the serpentine belt is bad....
:phew:

Not what I woulda guess from the video. But vids do rob the ability to pinpoint sound location. Lucky you!

I'll get more details when I pick up the truck, but yeah, that's what they said.

I just had this problem in my mazda3. It sounded like a ticking or puffing I had thought mayb a leaky exhaust manifold gasket as the sound would go away when the car warmed up but turns out I just needed new drive and ac belt so far the problem has gone away. Good luck hopefully that's all it is.

Holy crap, I would shit myself if my engine sounded like that. Glad it was something minor . . . . . . It seems like it is never anything "cheap" that happens to my truck!
