Viper Ignition Key

Some of the guys speak of having the Viper ignition key system, whats the difference, advantages ??:dontknow: :dontknow:

The keys were available on ebay for about $20.00,in red ,blue,and maybe black.The Sneaky Pete is molded into the key so one side he is facing the correct way and when you flip it over he isn't.

It is a really cool "visual mod" :rock: but it requires something more than just getting the key cut.You have to either 1)keep the big ugly truck key near the ignition switch 2) remove the chip in the big ugly truck key and keep it near the ignition switch 3) do it right and epoxy the chip inside the steering column near the switch.The reason is that the truck will not start without the security chip near the switch,and Viper car keys do not have chips.

Be aware that if you do this mod you are removing one of the security features of your truck.Just so you know.

I was hoping it was a perimeter system similar to the Corvettes where you just walk up and it automatically unlocks and you then just push the button to start with the key in your pocket.:dontknow:

I had a couple of those keys,they sure look good,That key would be great for a spare on your key chain for opening the doors if you lost your fob.

I have one of those ,too.Roktman got it for me long ago.That is the new style.They are still better than the big ugly truck key ,but not as cool as the Sneaky Pete design :rock:

the viper key doesn't have a chip? Dodge pinched some pennies on that one.. 80K car with less security than an intrepid :hmmmm2:
