How long should one wait on a tune from their tuner?

This is one of those things that I've wondered about. People buy tuners from a shop and with that they expect to get decent tunes to load on their vehicle. What is a reasonable amount of time to expect a new tune from your tuner?

I've never been through this with any other vehicle, I had a local tuner for my Lightning and then learned to tune it myself via my SCT Pro racer package. I've always gotten top notch quick tunes for my viper(these were actually mailed back and forth on a flash card for the VEC II) and I tuned my SC'd 350z myself.

It seems with the advent of the mailable tunes and such, this process should be much quicker than in the past.

The tune I need is to keep the check engine light off because I have no cats and my state inspection is coming up. The light comes on pretty much every time I drive so I can't chance it bringing it to get inspected and it throws a code and fails inspection.

BTW- The original tune was supposed to accomplish this when I bought the tuner but it never worked. It's not a big deal to me really, but it will be a big deal to the inspector when I can't go through a full cycle without throwing a cat code.

So what's a reasonable amount of time to get a tune mailed to you ?

If you are dealing with Roe you will get your tune emailed to you sometimes in minutes...just depends what he is doing and where he is..

I got my tune from Roe within an hour

Who's the tuner? I have been waiting for over a month for the tune to turn the CEL off from the cats. Waiting for about 2 weeks for a tune to get rid of lean surges.

I'd rather not say, but I bet we have the same tuner.

I didn't intend for the thread to be a tuner bashing or to piss off the tuner, but viewed it as more of an information gathering so I know how to set my expectations in the future or if I should just cut my losses and move along.

Get you money back and then cut your losses.

It's the weekend.. I'd give the guy a break. I think 5 days is reasonable. More than that without contact? FRY 'EM! ;)

DC reflashed my pcm the same day they received it, then mailed it out and I had it the next day on Maui!! CEL has never come on. (have no cats)

DC Perf. is all about service.

You are not bashing the tuner only letting others know about your issues. If tuner A takes 2-3 days and tuner B takes 2-3 weeks then most would take tuner A. Everyone knows that Marty did my tune. I picked it up with the CEL on for the cat delete and it still has the CEL today.

I really think you need to take into account, is the tuner busy with others as well. I am all about customer service and getting what I want when I pay my hard earn money for it. But if you got a big build like Smoke or Ram from Hell, than you need to take into consideration it is not just a CAI and Exhaust tune. But, there is also the flip side, if the tuner is just taking his time and putting your crap on the back self well, than we got a problem houston. I would rather wait on a Tuner ROE, DC or KRC for the best possible tune vice hurry up. Trust me when you get that TUNE you will be smiling your butt off

True but if you already have the tune and just a new one that only turns the cats off and does not adjust the timing then that should not take long since the tune is already done.

yes you are right smoke, then at that point it would be a easy fix to get the tune out

Dang!!!   Wish I hadn't seen this thread. I've been waiting a long time for my tweaked program, but got sidetracked and forgot about it,
I called last week and got the impression that it should have been sent and for some reason it just didn't go through.   :dontknow:

Get your tunes from a reliable tuner, Roe Racing, Sean tops all others for service, if you have to wait more than a day, its bad service

Is there a web sight where you can just pay for, and then download a good tune?

And personally for the longevity of our engines I wouldnt trust anyone else for a mail order tune:rock:
