lately a lot of rain here in south florida and I've noticed as soon as water hits my belt I loose steering abilities for a few seconds until it quits squealing and dries off......
Is this normal???

It happens with mine when I wash the motor. Squeals and temp loss of steering for a little bit. Maybe a new belt would fix it:dontknow:

Got that a while back and checked the power steering fluid just for grins..
Everything was fine but i'm a little intrested as to why it squeals.

the noise doesn't bother me as much as say i'm making a turn one day and becasue I hit some water my truck doesn't want to turn completely and boom....bye bye srt-10

Just have to rely on ARMstrong steering:D Dem big o tires are hard to turnin:marchmellow: when ya goin slow:D

yea i know what you mean I used to have 37's x 13.5" x 20 n lost power steering one time...sucked!

happens to me too after sitting in heavy rain...happened yesterday as a matter of fact! I'd love to put a stop to it!

Man I wish it would rain here. I'd even go for a cloudy day...or two. Constant sunshine...every day all day. I can still count how many days my truck has seen rain on one hand and I have 85K miles!!! :p

The opening for the hood scoop is right over the belts. When water pools on the scoops opening and you move forward it dumps on the pulleys. A GoodYear Gatorback Belt virtually eliminates this by preventing the hydroplaning of the belt. Also they last forever, run cooler, and are silent.

swap the belt out. happened on mine when the belt got wet it would slip so no power steering. a new belt will fix it.

sounds like new belt is the way to go especially this time of year down here....every single day you can expect rain around 1-3PM, and I really don't feel like losing a truck b/c rain stopped my steering!

I here ya brother! Glad to see I am not alone on this.As long as its still warm I dont have issues.rain overnight and it sticks in the morning for sure!Looks like a new belt is in my future as well:D :D

Im on My 3rd Truck in FL everyone of them has done it after the ( here it comes bad word ) " Car Wash":D Or heavy rain when the truck has been sitting:mad: I just let it idle for a min and its ok, " Learn to live with it ! or get some therapy and get over it I guess":D ;)

Mine does it too sometimes after a washing. Same thing, squeals for a sec then stops. Glad I am not the only who noticed it. Sounds pretty normal to me.

Sounds common then...my problem is that it happened when I hit a small puddle slow and then went to turn with nothing..it scared me a little and sucks if I lose the truck like that.... I bought the Gatorback belt hoping that with channel the water!

Ditto here after a hard rain. I usually stop the truck, turn it off, then back on again and the problem goes away. Sounds like I'll be looking for a new belt next time I'm at the parts store.

Bringing this back from the dead because it's been raining here in Rochester
quite a bit and I can't stand the sound of it, as well as having to double
hand that steering wheel when it does happen.. So the conclusion is to
get a Goodyear Gatorback belt? What's the Part number?:D

Thanks,

Andrew

Do they make them for our application??? I don't see it in their applist... :(
