Water spots on paint help

SO the other day I parked in a parking garage and when I came out to leave I had noticed that the beam above my car had been dripping water onto my quarter panel. I went a cleaned it off but there is still some stain left on the paint. I am not sure if its a calcium deposit or some sort of rust. Has anyone had this happen to them and how can I get rid of the stains?

Also I was recommended to try and use rubbing compound that some wax afterward, another guy suggested CLR and someone said to use a 2:1 mix of water to vinegar.

after a clear coat polish/ buff and there is still a stain....go with a claybar kit.

I havnt tried it yet I was planning on doing it this afternoon but before i started I wanted to get some opinions. You think I should maybe just go for the clay bar first and skip this polish

Yes try the water n vinegar mix first.

Simply wipe on and then wipe off. Take a water cloth to make sure all vienegar is off afterwards n dry.

If that doesnt work then try the rubbing compound, then a swirl remover then a polish then wax.

You can use a 6" variable speed buffing wheel. Use the appropriate pads.

Should take less than an hour to do the whole panel.

Make sure to use a good carnuba wax afterward. Helps seal the paint and protects.

Is there any specific products you guys recommend for the rubbing compound and wax. I know I have turtle wax but I'm not sure if that's good stuff.

I use a clay bar on my Black RC. It really makes a differance with water spots.

Turtle wax is actually descent.

Here we use 3m rubbing compound, swirl, and polish.

Then we use Black Magic Wet Shine Carnuba Wax-cherry flavored. LOL

All carnuba wax is pretty close. Some are just easier to put on and take off. I may try some others when this bottle is done. It leaves a silky smooth finish that looks great. Just a lil more work than i would like.

I use Rubber Maid Tub and Tile cleaner sprayed on a rag and rinse it really well with distilled water (Spot treatment)... then wax.... The water in my area is the worst in the state of florida...basically hard water deposits are left on my truck if I don't use my mr clean sprayer.. must have a new filter every 1 1/2 washes.....There is no way possible to dry it fast enough to avoid the water spots otherwise.

WORKS GREAT! i use it religiously. they advertise 10 washes per filter...but it all depend on the quality of water going in. i can usually get 5 washes. by the way i think they have stopped making the mr.clean kit. i have searched everywhere,and ended up buying filters of e-bay

Hey James, It works great as long as you change the filter after every 1 1/2 washes with the water hear. Makes washing the truck a bit more expensive ..... I found a deal on the kits a big lots on clearance for $4.00 per kit ---lol I bought 5 of them.... They sell for $18 to $20 at walmart....comes with filter and soap.....But I think the Big Lots deal was a fluke... should have bought them all

go to a boating store, they have water spot and stain remover. ussually works pretty well

Vinegar and water, then clay, then a fine polish, then a glaze, and finally carnuba wax.

The only problem is when you finish that area if will look so good you will have to do the rest of the truck.

The boating store water spot remover is called "Ducky".

I'd go with the claybar. I claybar my truck once every month and a half or so. Really makes the paint shine plus removes anything stuck on paint(spots, sap...). Not to mention I love the feel of a smooth paint job after I clay n wax. I use mohers claybar kit and follow up with a turtle wax "black box" (wax & detailer for black vehicles) and looks SWEET!!

Which ever rubbing compound just don't use the Harsh Red stuff, use the more gentle white/cream colored....
