Well, I put together the finishing touches to my Paxton install ,and it fired up the first time.Boy was I suprised. I topped of the fluids and checked for leaks. Not a one.I am not sure if my boost gauge is reading right though.

Those of you familiar with the paxton, let me know by the pics if my guages are reading corrrect at idle. Thanks for all the support. Now its time to test drive.:burnout:

I think at idle boost should be zero. Check the level of the intercooler after you run it for awhile. It should be near the top at all times. After I got mine back I couldnt see any fluid. I added at least 2-3 large cups of water to top it off.

Thanks for the tip.I dont think i have a vacum leak.If I did it wouldnt idle right. At least thats been my experience. Is it normal for it to be so noisy?

It does sound like a rocket ship though.;) too cool!

I believe he has a vacuum/boost gauge.
It apears to be in the vacuum range, which is correct at idle.

What FSTJACK said. The engine creates a vacuum. With the throttle plates closed, the vacuum is at it's highest. When you crack the throttle the vacuum lowers but should not reach zero (Normally Aspirated). Now with the Paxton, when you start making boost, the gauge will show up to your kits max psi but when you close the throttle and the truck is idling, you will show a vacuum again. Anybody remember the vacuum gauges you mounted in the car to monitor economy etc.?

I agree with FSTJACK.....mine is usually around 16-18 (vacuum range) at idle....

I'm in vacuum at idle and even driving around until I drive harder and get under boost.

So that means even if I make the 8 PSI of boost that the kit is supposed to , it wont show 8 PSI on the gauge? I guess i got the wrong type gauge.Any suggestions? .

It should show actual boost.

Your gauge should show whatever boost your Paxton is putting out. I didn't know it would go to +8 PSI. I thought most kits only went to 5 PSI, that's why I picked that number out of thin air. The picture is a little blurry but if the Paxton could put out 20 PSI, it looks like the gauge could show it.
