Me and my buddy started taking the truck apart today. Headers and turbos off, drain all fluids, etc...

Got the chance to see the area of the leak and found 2 small holes. half in the head and half in the block. Need less to say this will take a while. We started pulling off parts in order to pull the motor out.:(

Any one with tips or hints please drop me line. We are up to the part of taking the radiator and stuff out to get the motor out easier. My buddy has the pictures and I will post them when I get them.

Pray for me......

if its from Hennessey i would call them they warantee all there work on it. make them fix it

Is this a joke?

I bet that there are a hundred people on this site that would rather pay than ever let John Hennessey touch their truck. I would take his money, but I would never leave my truck unguarded in his presence. I don't know the man, but have read enough horror stories that I avoid Texas because of him.

NOW THAT'S FUNNY RIGHT THERE, I don't care who you are

Hehehehe....seen one of his Vipers run at a San Antonio Raceway a few years ago - 1 run wonder (Made 1 run then wondered what that white smoke was coming out of the tailpipe).

Ah...we're not all that bad though. There's quite a few shops around these parts that will help out and warranty their work as well. (Just not "him") ;)

BTW: Disconnect Transmission, disconnect P/S pump bolts (it drops down), loosen engine mount bolts (no need to take them out), disconnect wiring harness, run straps around each header (or manifold) and put the hooks from the straps on the engine hoise hook. Also, if you let the air out of the front tires, you'll gain about 2" more clearance which allows for easy removal of the engine without having to remove the bottom support (which is a PITA to reinstall).

What will be interesting is to see if there are actually forged pistons in the block....?????????:dontknow:

I'm betting "no way"...

Paul, if I can do anything don't hesitate to ask.

Roy

P.S. If necessary I can come up to help and stay with my "Ex".....hehehehe.

Dam Mike the "somethings" in the mail, his lips are moving, ECT, ECT, ECT.

Sounds like there is going to be a lot of Heliarch welding going on shortly.

Really curious about the parts that are in the motor that are actually there, compared to the build sheet.

This is my old truck that I spent over 100K on....many of you know the problems I have had with JH......I sold the truck to Paul who is a very nice guy and have done all I can to help with some of the issues after the sale................Paul, I also would like to know what you find once it is apart.....??????

Thanks everyone. We are getting back at it on Sunday. I am not sure on how to tell the "good" parts from the stockers but my buddy is pretty mechanic wise.

The headers and turbos are out, intake is off, wiring harness out, disconnected all the hoses from the cooling "area" and are ready to pull the assy out.

question.. After you unbolt the top support of the Cooling assembly can it just be turned so that I don't have to drain the AC of freon??:dontknow:

Dude no offence, but JH is a big A Hole. They would have to pay me money to take my truck to his shop to get butchered

should be able to rotate it, but its cheap to get it recharged versus the other things you have to do. good luck man

I've got a pic of my stock piston after it put 2 holes in my block just over a year ago, that way you could tell if the pistons are stock or not.

It would be interesting to see how much if any "upgraded" parts are actually on or in the truck/engine. Being in the blown motor club I know first hand how expensive it can and will be to fix.

If you can take a pic of the piston(s) we could tell you pretty quickly if they are stock or not.

I've still got my blown motor in my garage covered up like a corpse :)

This truck has seen high boost levels, correct? IMO there is no way it still has the stock pistons. It would have grenaded on the very first high boost run if it still had the stockers in there.

One way to tell is to check the thickness of the ring lands. The stockers have VERY THIN ringlands.

As I recall, and that is really dangerous, Paul was running his truck all along on low boost due to a wiring issue, and running in the 12's and high 11's. On the night of the problem, I think it was the first night at the track with both low and high boost...which produced a 11.00 and BOOOOOM.

I think we will see this truck back in the early spring with forged pistons and the internals as they should be...and if Paul is thinking ahead...some Striker heads.

And then, and then, I estimate 10.40's on drag radials...

Nowwhat, you have a few more months and then Paul will be breathing down your neck...and FstJack will be ready to change the environment with low 9's and possibly an 8 or two. We can't discount Justin...the way he goes at things, he may push his truck with a stout spray shot and do his usual low key "killer runs".

Did youn have Hennesy rebuild this motor or just do turbos?:dontknow:

Steve this was an original Hennessey build. Walt had John buildl it at a cost of about $100,000...and it was never right. After much angst and failure after failure, Walt sold the truck with full disclosure of the problems to Paul. Paul has worked slowly and purposefully to address the multitude of issues and found lots of problems. He has just gotten to the point of putting down some stout times, and now has his current problem.

EDITORIAL COMMENT: I doubt that truck will ever seen the city limits of Houston again. If John Hennessey has any conscious at all, he can't sleep at night thinking about the route he took with this build, and the damage it has done to his reputation. He had multiple chances to make it right when Walt owned this truck. Walt was the perfect client...well heeled, patient, and knowledgeable. IMO John made wrong decisions at every turn. He went the cheap route, the short route, the easy way, and failed in every aspect. Just bad decisions.

Here are a couple pictures of the progress, I forgot th picture of the holes
