From what I could tell today I saw higher MPG at 45 vice 50 and 55. I will try again to figure it out today and tomorrow. Hey Silver if you get some time how about letting me know what you think the best speed would be in a no wind situation.

Begood said:Scott the gearing on a QC is very different than a RC. when I rode in Boomer's QC I really noticed a big difference. The RCs best miliage will be at a higher speed because of this.
Bill.

Can we get an update on the concensus? I know Boomer says it works, but an actual "from the horses mouth" report (update) would be awesome! I am all for increased gas mileage and performance!
That's why we love you Scotty....:dancing: :dancing:FlyingLow said:I posted on the other threads and asked for them to be merged since they have a lot of the same info.
Silverback said:If I have the energy when I get home tonight I will get into this. But there is a "Sweet Spot" rpm that the engine is most efficient.
That is why some newer (Mini, and Nissan Morano) cars are going to the CVT transmissions. The sooner you can get the engine to that rpm range, and the longer you can hold it there, the better your fuel mileage will be.
FlyingLow said:Hey John what is the sweet spot?
My original question about bucket speed was not on the highway. speed limit is 45 on these back roads. Any my drive is only 8 miles.
But what would it be on the highway where the limit is 70? Would 78 get better then 65?
