I want to buy a camera to capture videos of totally legal racing, from inside the vehicle and possibly to stick to the outside of the vehicle. Do y'all have any suggestions about what I should get?

Canon T3I with the 18-55 lens. The GoPro only works well in bright lighting under the 127 degree narrow angle. Everything else is fisheye look. Additionally the GoPro records in the MP4 format which is too compressed of a video signal. Get the Canon t3I and you will be a lot happier. The Cannon also is small enough to mount to suction cup or roll bar mounts in or out of the vehicle.

Brad would know best.
Brad, do you know anyone that uses that camera for flying? How does it do with the motion from a propeller your filming through?

Just looked up the Canon. People attach that to the outside of cars?

The Canon will shoot night videos, well?

**edit**
Brad, I can install a new cam for what that thing costs! Is it really that much better than the Gopro HD?

3200 ISO with built in noise reduction makes great night videos. The GoPro night footage is garbage period. I own 2 GoProHD's and 2 T3I's. The GoPro's only get used for water shots.

Maybe Voodoo would know but from what I understand the helicopters interfere with the video signal but the planes do not but don't know for sure.

Bingo!! Great light weigh and relatively small camera that does stunning 1080P video with interchangeable lens options. I will be shooting a feature with this exact camera soon! The only beef I have with the video part is there is no autofocus while recording video. Also the hdmi preview out is scaled down to 480p so if you are using a HD monitor to pull focus and then you hit record the picture blurs and you can't pull focus at all.

Ok I was going to buy a Gopro to use as a helmet cam when I am riding my bike. the canon would be to heavy to use as a helmet cam right?
