In the course of this political nomination, the topic of racism has risen it's ugly head again.... What a pity that (in the last 40 years) we (supposedly) sophisticated Americans still must deal with this issue.....

I abhor racism in any form.... I consider each person and endeavor to embrace them or not based on their individual ability to love others... or as Dr. King said, "not by the color of their skin, but by the quality of their character"..... I go (a long ways) out of my way to find reasons to love others (just) as God loves me...

Having said that, I'd like (if you please) to raise a point of order.....:

There have been times when (even here on the VTCOA) individuals have made mention of specific trends (yes, "trends" is a euphemism) that are indigenous to a specific ethnic or social group.... and in due course, they are roundly excoriated (reemed) as racists for simply (and correctly) stating that those responsible for rioting were exclusively black, Muslim .... (or whatever they were)...

I was in L.A. during the Watts riots of the 60's and all the other riots since then.... Including, the Rodney King beatings and the resulting bloodshed all over L.A.. These riots, the firebombings and all of the resulting destruction were driven by issues of race and acted out almost exclusively by blacks.

I witnessed a poor, white truck driver named Reginald Denny being savagely attacked and beaten into a bloody pulp by a little piece of shit named Damian "Football" Williams. Am I a racist for mentioning that he (Williams) is black.... Or that (virtually) all the rioters were black.......? It seems from some of the accusations (that) I've read on the VTCOA that I am.....

Well, I got news for you ........ If you are a good person, I love you with all my heart..... I don't care what your color, religion or ethnicity may be... and I ain't no MFing racist.

There are reponders who wanna to cry "racist" at many of the WRONG times and places.... and to them, I gotta call "bullshit".... Specifically I saw examples directed at Stick on Jake's Obama thread.... and I strongly disagreed with the accusations despite any chin-wags or issues I've had with Stick in the past.

If the Mexicans get pissed and decide to demonstrate about the way we enforce our borders.... If they don't wanna obey the rightful immigration laws of this country.... and if I say "...ta' hell with them... They are a bunch'a criminals without regard for our laws...." If I say that they all need to go back to Mexico and return here legally if they love America that much..... That doesn't in any way, shape or form make me a racist, or anti-latino or any Goddam thing of the kind......

I believe in good and evil, in right and wrong conduct and in the rule of law...

So the next time a specific racial or ethnic group of rioters, murderers, bombers or illegals begins acting out en masse and doing shit that is an abberation to our way of life, I'm gonna call them blacks, latinos and even no good, piece'a shit asshole white trash if I so desire..... And I don't wan't one swingin' fkn dick saying I'm a racist for doing so.....

Okay....?... Thanks.:D

Valid points.... There were some lines on the other thread that were on the "fringe", IMO. But, it is hard to convey your tone/feelings over the internet as well. Everyone had great responses on that thread, and I hope they continue. I'm proud of that thread. There was a mis-understanding, maybe a misconstruing of words.... but, I think it was worked out.

I cherish the day when we can just call someone a JACK-ASS... and not a white/black/Asian/Mexican Jack-ass. ;)

I frequently look at myself in the mirror and say, "you stupidass fkn dego..." Does that mean I hate I hate all degos...(shit no) .. It means I'm pissed at myself and I'm being as harsh as I can (WITH myself) in order to sufficinetly drive the medicine home.

My 'umble apologies to all you (fellow) degos out there.......

(Degos fkn rule...everyone knows that) ;)

Many people seem to think that racism is any comment that targets a specific race regardless of whether or not the comment has merit. If you make a negative comment that includes the word Black/African American, or Mexican, or Italian or any other race, you are labeled a racist. It doesn't seem to matter to people that the LA rioters during the Rodney King situation were mostly African Americans. These people think you are racist simply for referring to African Americans in your comment. Racism is such a heated subject that it doesn't take much to set off those who are looking for a fight about racism. And, in my experience, those looking to give others hell for racism are usually the most racist of all.

I do not consider myself racist. I also do not consider myself fat (a little chubby maybe). That being said, some others probably think I am a racist and even others think I am fat. People base their opinions on their beliefs and their life experiences. Therefore, you will find there are millions of different definitions for racism.

I completely agree with your statements in the first post here D and I do not believe you to be racist at all. That being said, many will consider some of the things you said racist. It's a shame but I see no end to it until we have all cross bred to the point that none of us are any single distinguishable race. I will be whitey to someone, somewhere, until I am dead and gone. I wish it weren't so but alas it is.

Funny thing is...I am 1/2 Arab (1/4 Lebanese and 1/4 Syrian) but everyone thinks I am a white boy. In these times of hatred toward Arabs, I have no plans to announce that half my blood is Arab blood to anyone I don't know on the street. And furthermore, I am nothing but an American as far as I am concerned. It would be really weird to be called Arab American considering I have no living relatives that I know who even speak any language but English and I don't even know which of my descendants crossed the ocean to get here. Most likely, the same goes for 90% of African Americans yet many want to be called African American.

I don't understand why anyone wants to be called African American, Native American, Mexican American or any other name but an American. If you chose to become a citizen, or at least you are an adult and have chosen to stay in this country as a citizen, you are an American. Aren't you?

Here is a classic example of why it is still around. My neighbors son is half mexican and white. Thier neighbors are asian. Keep in mind this is a 100% true story. They came home from school one day and started asking about different colors of people, they did not see each other as different color or race until this particualar day. The school/teacher pounded it into thier brain that they are different, BTW this was done on MLK day. Thats why racism is still around.
IMO, it is the people that want to be treated the same that keep pointing out how different they are when it benefits them. They seem to want to have it both ways....maybe I am wrong...
On a side note, is it possible for a white person to be discriminated against?

I assure you that reverse discrimination against white males is alive and well. I can't really speak for white females but I have not seen the same happen to females. Everything we (the white man) say can and will be used against us by anyone who is not a white male. If you are white, remember that and you will avoid some ugly situations.

Is it possible...........? Give me fkn strength.....!! It is rampant...

If I tried to start "WET" (White Entertainment Television) I'd be called racist from the first moment....

Yet, no one is calling for an end to Black Entertainment Television...(BET)

Non black America has been lead to believe that blacks are eligible for "special priviledges" because of the all the shit they've had to endure. And I'm not neccesarily opposed to some special considerations for that. After all, slavery was (in principle) totally fkd up..... everyone knows that. Enslaving a human being is fkn evil....

Question is, where does it end..... ?

Even if (God forbid) that incredibly smooth talking and polished empty suit (Obama) were to get elected President, the minority folks who've made a cushy living from the perpetual free rides of entitlement will continue to whimper and whine about how unfair the system is and how unequal is the playing field of opportunity for all minorities.

Hell, I'd make a promise right now to vote for Obama under the pretext that once Obama enters office, US Federal Law shall prohibit any minority group or individual from using racial priviledge as an excuse for their gross paraciticism, wastefulness or failure to contribute to the United States economy.

Obama, Condie Rice, Colin Powell, Justice Clarence Thomas and others have (by their own diligence and fortitude) ascended to some of the highest offices in the Federal Government. Unfortunately only one of them is the right color black for black America..... and he's only half black......

Go figure.

i'm a human bein. i like to put down "human" on applications. screws them up.:congrats:  :marchmellow:

I wish you luck on this thread staying civil Timmy :D It's Shit like this that drove off members in the past including Shawno and Izzy. I will say that I do not believe you to be racist in any way. There are a handful of people that post here that are though....They speak under their breath, use under tones when they write and some just are not all that smart about it. They stick out like a sore thumb.....Ever notice the most bigoted people have really good friends that are of different ethnicity  :D Bwahahahha :p I wonder why nobody speaks the ugly truth that the women of this site are treated as objects and 2nd class citizens  I have and this is not the first time I have said something about it...But that is some how more acceptable ;) :D

It is our own Government and businesses the continue to perpetuate this. Whenever you fill out a form it asks what race you are. This is because in a lot of cases minorities are given preferential treatment. This is called "Reverse Discrimination" and it was running rampant the last time I was in the corporate world. It's not the best person for the job, It's the best person that fits the needed profile for the job.

There are some damn fine points in this thread.

I must say that I am a very lucky person, because I have made friends, many friends in this world, friends of all races. And I feel damn lucky to be able to call them my friends, and them to call me the same.

The unfortunate part, is that there are bad people in this world, and they are made up of all races.

Thanks Mikey,

I hear what you're saying..... and I do realize that there are racist assholes everywhere... including on this forum.... Although, I personally don't recall seeing anyone write anything that I thought was blatnatly racist.... and I'm pretty pissy about shit like that.....

There are those (even yourself included) who feel (that) they have such abundant love in their friendships that they can use words that other people can't...... But I've found that (even) that is very thin ice upon which to tread... Especially when that particular race or ethnic group has taken alotta shit already....

Jews, blacks, latinos and (in the last 2 decades) Muslims are the ones who take the most shit and, as a result, seem to have the thinnest skin........ But, in the U.S., if you use the terms "Dego, Mick, Limey, Hienie, Canuck" and many others, the recipient usually takes it as a friendly "wop" on the back... (sorry)...

We are all Americans (right-on Chris) and we'd better GD well all start acting like it..... Our bloodlines will ALL become homogenized eventually anyway.... And diversity, ancestral homelands, origins and cultural customs will all go the way of the Dodo (extinction) before we conclude our brief time on this planet....

We have something (in America) that is much more important than Columbus Day or the celebration of Cinco de Mayo, St Patty's Day or Kwanza. It's the celebration of freedom that we all enjoy..... to be a Muslim, a Jew, a Christian or a fkn Atheist for that matter.... We're legally bound to extend these freedoms of worship and ancestry and we have no fear of the government busting down the door ..... at leaset about that.... Maybe next we'll cop a clue and legalize weed. (for later)

That's our citizenship.... and in the nation which offers us the safety of these Freedoms should be our devotion and our alliance... Not the country we left...But the one in which we've so gratefully come to live......

God bless America...... every other country comes second.....

Semper Fi...

Speaking of Homogenized :D Have you seen the F@ckin price of milk lately LMAO :congrats: :congrats: Almost 5 bucks a gallon at some stores
BTW yes I have in the past made many jokes with racial under tones. Have not done so since Alfredo said something to me a little over a year ago. I still think some of it is funny but I also realize that it is hurtful to many. So I refrain from doing so anymore. That was my choice and I did it because I respected the person who said something. It took me awhile to realize that while I have a thick skin, others don't :D I still think most of it is just people being overly sensitive and taking themselves to seriously but hey they gotta live with something I don't so I can respect that. :marchmellow: Jokes are jokes IMO.......But blatant out and out Racism is something different and I don't stand for it.....Never have :congrats:

Even Duane Chapman, who lives in the gutter for a living, has had to come to understand that many minority individuals will absolutely not let you into their hearts, their lives or their culture....

IMO it's because they are small minded, fearful people... Of course there are also a shitload of white assholes who don't even deserve the courtesy of being spit on if they're on fire.....

As Bill said, "There's good n bad everywhere" (paraphrase)

WOW!! 100% with ya!

I think it will be very interesting when (if they don't "cover it up") NASA finds evidence of previous life on Mars..... What will all the Religions and Race Mongers (We were the birth of civilization, cradle of life, etc.) say when they are confronted with this reality? Will it change our feeble, narrow, childish (collective) state of mind? Will we finally take steps to realize we are just another DOT in the line of creatures of the BIG neighborhood, or still think we are the center of the universe?

(I'm not saying they are going to find "little green men" carcases or anything... just a tiny single-celled organism should touch-off a serious debate on who we REALLY are.)

The sad thing is, I think if they DID find something with this latest probe (landed on Mars last week, with the specific intent to find signs of life, or previous life below the soil), our WONDERFUL government would be inclined to keep the findings from us. So, I guess this is a moot point.
