Almost did a deal on a loaded, untitled 05 SRT QC w/ 1k miles. Got them down to what I was comfortable paying for the truck $38.5K, then the deal tanked when they would only give $14.5 k for my 04 Hemi QC 4x4 SLT Sport w/20s in excellent condition (dealer's words). Walked because he handed me a two separate deals line, market value on the SRT and market value on my truck. But the market value he used on my truck was auction price, which of course is below trade-in value. Mr. Dumas.....it's a package deal and you still have a 2yr + old truck on your lot and lost the sale b/c you got greedy on the trade value.

Monday I go to the dentist, I'll let you know which was less painful.:dontknow:

Still on the SRT hunt , so I can officially join the asylum.

NADA and Kelley set the trade values and the dealer can obviously go up or down from there depending on the vehicle condition, market conditions, and demand for that particular vehicle. Any type of vehicle with an engine (boat/car/motorcycle) depreciates so fast these days unfortunately. If you think the offer for your used 04 was not fair then I would try and run it in the Autotrader and see if you have any luck that way. Sometimes you can get lucky and find a buyer looking for just that type of vehicle and make a quick sale closer to NADA retail. On the other hand it can also be a PITA with people wanting you to self finance it, take it on 100 mile test drives all over the place, coming over to your home at 11:00 pm which may not be comforting. $38K for an untitled 05 SRT QC sounds good to me but again it is your money and you have to be comfortable with the deal. It is not so much what you pay for the truck that makes the entire ownership experience worth it. I have bought vehicles for cheap and made a mistake because I bought the deal and not the vehicle if that makes sense and on the other hand I have paid close to MSRP and loved the vehicle and the ownership experience and it made it all OK. Good luck with your search and if you get the SRT10 you will love it as I do mine!

dealers are are greedy bunch....... i never go into deal unless i have the kelly blue book retail & wholesale figures for both rigs..... i go wholesale to wholesale or retail to retail, that's it (usually about the same figure)...... if they don't like it, walk everytime...... & tell them you're on the way to their competitor -- they love that.......:D

Do mine the same way and it works everytime except:
The last year or so Kelly has been way off on prices vs dealer NADA.
Bought my 05 QC for 32500 from the dealer off internet price of 33500
Kelly said it was worth 41,000 at the time.
NADA dealer said 33000 cause dealer showed me the book.
Cars are like houses right now, just not that many buyers out there and most are not looking for trucks because of fuel concerns.
The dealer could be right on what your truck would bring or not.
Check internet pricing on your model and see how cheap they are willing to sell your truck for and that will be what it's worth in the real world vs happy book pricing!
38500 is high for a two year old SRT truck!
Way high!
Should be able to come up with a new 06 cheaper than that somewhere but probably need to trade out of yours so can't get the several thousand dollar advantage of no trade in!
Good luck!

Welcome to the (hey that's my fkn line....!) asylum.......

Look around their dealer and try to find a vehicle comparable to your trade in. Your pricing should be base from that.

I also believe that $38,000.00+ is way too high. I got my truck with 2 miles on it on Dec 05 for $40,000.00.

If CT has a personal property tax like VA, than you could also tell them that as long as the truck sit's on there lot, they are paying taxes on it. About a $1000.00 evey year.

thats a good thing man because you dont want a QC they are by far the slowest,,,,,,and the RC six speed is set up how a performance truck should be..............and make sure you dont get black , red or gray for they are the slow ones ,,,,,yellow is the fastiest with white coming in second......

I work at a Dodge Dealership and I will agree that its BS the deals some people are offered for trade. They will be offered an auction price because there might not be a demand for the vehicle as opposedto the Blue book/NADA value. I understand the KBB and otheres are merely guidelines but I would want nothing less than 28k for my truck, dont know about you guys though.I've lost too many deals because my appraisal guy wont give crap for trade. Sometimes though some sort of voodoo is worked and people are happy. My suggestion is either 1 sell privately or two venture over to other dealerships and have them do appraisals. I can almost gaurantee that they will either match or beat it. I know the one I work at does that. I send customers up the street all the time for another appraisal, more often than not they return with a higher offer. I will say this though. DEALERSHIPS..only car about making money....very rarely will you find one more concerned with building good reputation and customer base. though they will say they are here for the customer...haha i dont think so

Got to find a dealer with an SRT though and they were selling at auction price last year when I got mine.
So if they can buy your truck at an auction and they price you theirs at auction price cause trust me some dealers want rid of them after almost 2 years and DC was giving a lot of discount money to dealers on them at one time, thats a good deal for them cause your truck might set there too.
But if you will give them thousands more than the SRT is worth or you could buy it for you should tell them you expect way more on your trade in!
Unless the world has started to spin backwards and time is reversed $38500 is way too high for a USED 2005 SRT QC. I know no title but some states consider used to be over 600 miles.
Was it a dealer demo that someone drove or have they let it test drive that much ? Either way it is USED!

I went to the dealership yesterday for info about the stereo. We drove Rachel's Jag. I didn't have time to get cold before a salesman was upon me.
I'm over the whole sales thing, so I just said to him, "I don't need a car. I need information. Can you get me that information? No? Who can?"
We left without the information I needed.

We did, however, stop by the brand new Mercedes dealership at Easton. WOW! Beautiful dealership and a great staff. I see the Jag getting traded in soon. :) Oh, and apparently there's a McLaren-SLR in town. Gotta befriend that guy.

I dig my dentist. No BS. No crazy anecdotes. No jokes. No golf stories.
He goes in, gets it done, I go home with 'rubber cheek'.

thats true. We had two sit for almost a year. The market in my area is not high for them at all since we are prone to snow and some nasty weather here at times. We have a used 2005 QC on our lot with less than 4k mile on it. Blue book is listed as 42k, and our price is 31,990. Not sure how much the guy was offered as a trade for it. I expect it to sit on our lot for atleast a few months. I've had people look at it, but when they find out its 2wheel drive they walk away. I think that if someone came in now and offered between 29 and 30k for it right now theyd take it.

It's not gray, it's Silver. Yellow may be the fastest (in your opinion) but Silver is the cleanest.:D

There are better deals to be had. I just bought a new 05' 105 miles QC for $34K.
Navi
Moonroof
Infinity system

The amount they wanted to give you was a little low but definately not out of the question.

I had an 04 QC Hemi with 40k miles and on trade got 16.5K for it. Right at KBB 'private party' 'excellent' condition value.
I think the trade value was good but you were getting bent on the sale price of the 05.

Tempe Dodge will sell you a new 06 for 41K fully loaded.
