After my tire dry rotted on the inside tread, I ordered Nitto's. In order to get to the shop to have them put on I needed to get the spare on. I couldn't get the lock to work with a single person. So I had the tire place come by. The guy pointed out the lock was broke and I would have to have it towed. Where is a good place to have it towed to? Is that something a welder/mechanic would do or a dealership only option?

Had that happen to me, used a pair of needle nose vise grips and the lock key, had to do it slow (and careful), bunch of wd-40 and it came off pretty easy. And no scratched to the rim

as u continuously soak it with a penetrating oil u might try to tighten the lugs on both sides of the broken one aswell, welding to it that close to the rim might not be a good idea unless they are really good and can put some cloth or leather around the bolt so u dont arc or get slag/perostie on the rim

Believe me, you can also drive it with 4 good lugs and the broken lock.

Most tire shops can get those off in seconds, some will charge and some do it for free

i think he is trying to get the lock-lug off cuz the tire on that rim is bad and unsafe for travel, could be wrong though

Your right, that hit me right after I hit post...dadgummmmmmit!!!!

lol Sorry for the jibberish post. But yes I can't drive it right now. The Pirelli tire blew out. :( But at the same time I can't get the wheel off to put a spare on. On top of that, when I got the spare all the way down I found out the previous owner had a masterlock on the cable. I do not have a key for it.

I have no problem not using them. How do I go about getting the wheel fixed? Do I need to have the dealership cut the lug nut off and replace it with one like the others?

take it to a shop with a welder and have them weld a bolt to it or something you can get a lug wrench on...you'll have to tow it, but it doesn't seem like a big deal to me:dontknow:

but remember our wheels arent cheap. tell him if he cant gurrantee no damage too them ul go somewhere else, any half desant welder will b able to weld it

where u at im in Ccentral IL, i coud do it for u, i can throw my weldor in the back of my truck and drive to u too.

Will a regular lug nut fit as a replacement? I removed the lock and hate having the bolt stick through the wheel. :) And where can I order the valve stem covers like Dodge uses?

Yes....

and

Go to Tony for the Valve Stem covers
