Wheel locks

I ended up buying Mopar # 82210429 wheel locks. They are McGard locks. I compared the clam shell dimension and it is the same. They stick out 1/4" than the other lugs which is not bad. The parts counter guy told me that these replace the plastic cap version. So I took put them on and put anti-seize on the stud and torque to 101 foot pounds. But when I started to torque the rest of the lug nuts and I was amazed that I got 1/8 of a turn on all of them on every wheel. So I will make a habit to torque them once a month when I fill the tires with air. I don't want the wheel coming off.

i dont want your wheels coming off too but DONT TORQUE your wheel locks. torque the normal lugs.
 
Dodge service manual says 95 ft. lbs.
 
3) Using the McGard key and a wrench, tighten each wheel lock to the torque specified on your vehicle owner's manual. For best results, always use a torque wrench and a socket. Keep the key pattern firmly and squarely engaged into the lock pattern. They can be kept square to each other via direct inward pressure. This will prevent uneven pressure on the key which could result in damage to the lock and/or key.

Specs say 90 to 110 foot pounds, so I like 101.

Now I am confused...

I used the Gorilla Locks Security system on my truck. All my lugs are locks. I don't want to wake up in the morning to find my truck on blocks with the wheels gone. Which coincidently happened to my sister a few weeks back. The bastards stole her 20" from her GMC Yukon and left the truck on blocks, and she only lives 7 blocks from my house.

I read in the VTCOA Official Vendor's DCperformance section the those Gorilla nuts where not correct for our trucks.

I've had them since I bought the truck, and haven't had any problems going on 3 yrs. Don't know what problems they're causing they've prefect thus far.

Yes the shape is different and not enough contact. In the thread he said that one totally loosened on one wheel caused rest to break off. The wheel where finger loose.
 
an advice : throw these mopar locking nuts , they are rubbish . i broke one while getting it off , still on the dam truck cant get it off . these locks are just too damn soft .

throw them away , it wasnt even overtorqued .:mad:
