where do you get your service?

Hey, well i finally get my tires mounted and road force balanced but lo
and behold they can't do a front end alignment on 22" rims.. i decide to pick
my truck up rather than have a "tech" guy drive it over to the shop four miles
down the road where the front end alignment will be done.. When i hop in
my truck i find out that seven miles has been added to my odo.. i asked the
guy. "why are there another seven miles added to my odo?" he replies, "i just
wanted to make sure the tires were in proper order and that nothing was wrong.
I just looked at him and walked away..

This is the third damn time someone has driven my truck with out telling me
before hand and it's really starting to piss me off First the dodge
stealership with eleven miles then the body shop with twelve then this guy
with seven.. i even bought it from the dealership with 70! and i know damn
too well that the guy that sold it to me didn't exactly take it easy when
test driving.. i know i shouldn't care that it's only seven miles etc.. but if this
damn thing break in the next 300 my butt is on the line and i have to pay
out of pocket for something i didn't do.. the next time i get some work done
what should i say to the person working on it?:dontknow:

On another note, i need to buy some new brake pads and rotors.. anyone
have a good place where i can get some cheap? also, should i be able to
do just the fronts? or do i also need to do the rears?

Take a digital camera with you. When you go out with the guy (preferably the manager) to move the vehicle, lean in and take a pic of the trip odometer (make sure it's not at 0.0) and the main odometer. Let them know that you have the mileage documented and will check it when you return.
I have no problems being an azzhole if it means my stuff comes back without being abused.

At my Dodge dealership only the department managers are allowed to drive the SRT vehicles.
And I *still* take pictures.

For your current situation, I'd talk to the manager of the store. Ask him why there are 7 miles on the truck. When he comes back with the same lameass excuse as the tech did, ask for the division manager's contact information. Keep going up the ladder until someone answers your question.

On another note, i need to buy some new brake pads and rotors.. anyone
have a good place where i can get some cheap? also, should i be able to
do just the fronts? or do i also need to do the rears?

Hhaha, i was looking eariler and saw a pic of your truck! yeah i think i'm
just gonna get the the stock rotors turned then go with the posi quiet pads..
i like the look of the EBC rotors but i want to see someone use them before
i buy them..

As for the comments above, trust me, if you knew me in person you know
that i'm not a tool in any sense. I just am tired of getting screwed over with
this small shit and it has to stop to save my sanity.. i think i'm gonna start
doing the camera bit. but i'll tell them strait up i left with a certain number
of miles i expect to have that certain number of miles in the same order when
i get back. :idea: :dontknow:

Sharpi- I don't think you're a tool at all!
I was just offering the camera idea for the next time you drop the truck off. It's worked for me in the past and I figured I'd pass it along.

When it comes to rotors for these trucks, we ALL say "I'll believe it when I see 'em on someone else's truck". LOL
A few guys have ordered 'SRT-10 Rotors' only to have regular Ram rotors show up at their door.

After my talk with Zeckhausen, I'm sure he knows EXACTLY what our trucks need, and I have no doubt my order will be correct.

first let me tell you that there is nothing "toolish" about your rant, I am telling you this as a body shop owner, I do not allow my techs to change the radio station that was on when cars come in, move the seats and mirrors only if it's a must, I fired a good painter for ignoring these rules, not to rub it in but 7 miles to make sure the tires were in proper order is complete BS, once they are zeroed out on the balancer they are fine, maybe a spin around the block, when I had my trans rebuilt the builder put about 6 miles on my truck, that was enough for him to check that the shifts were right, the downshifts were correct, and my kickdown cable was on the money, next time you take it anywhere you let them know that no one is to drive it, if the shop is a professional outfit they will not have any problems with it, come on 7 miles to check the tires that is disrespectable to you, again not rubbing it in, but if you don't think they romped on it you're being naieve(sic), that's what most mechanics do, especially young ones, I bet if it was a toyota camary there wouldn't be 7 miles on it, next time you take your truck for service anywhere you let it be known that no one is to drive it without your authorization, and don't ever go back to that tire shop, they don't deserve your business, trust me you are not coming off any kind of way, remember what the parking attendents did to Ferris Buehler's friends ferrari, that is not that far fetched.
some advice, use the search on here and DIY section, things like brakes are very easy to do, do it yourself, you will feel good about it and have no worries, plenty of good people here to help, you can PM me anytime for help, don't trust your truck to just anybody, if anyone is gonna beat on it, it should be you.
