Which Diesel???

all the new diesels get shitty milage because of the smog requirments, i get 16-18 city avg (no joke) on the open highway, i can get up to 24...if you get a dodge, the tranny WILL go out with light modding, mine is goin in tommorow for the trans, do you want 4x4? what do you paln on doing with it?

a chey is awsome, easy mods get 650+ and a 6 speed allison, BUT at that power you need to reinforce the tie rod ends,

i would go 04~06 cummins HO 4x4, you can find then in the high 20's with 50k or less

pst me if you want details about all makes

I am basically looking to get a ton of torque, do burnouts, and get good gas mileage. The added positive is that diesel are reliable. I would like to buy something with 50k miles or so and keep it till it hits 150k, which would be about 5 years! I will PM you later, Gonna look for some deals

Keep in mind that a diesel generally will not do a burn out like a gasser... you have to lightly power brake them to get em going....once you have that... its all over...

When I had my modded 2002 Ford F-350 Dually, it was modded and was making 500hp, and 890lbs of torque.... once I got the tires spinning, I could lay a patch of dually rubber 130ft long..... I left my mark several times up at the Arrowhead mall parking lot... :D

pick up any 8 lug mag, them duramax's run huge numbers and are built very well. theres a reason they are the most expensive of the big 3. its all about personal pref though, i like them all for the fact u can idle them all day and burn a cup of fuel.

Just a theory...on paper I can show my wife that buying a diesel will be just about as economical as a v6 accord...or something to that effect:D

I like the interior and seats of a 03-06 chevy, my wife has an 04 denali and the seats are just perfect for me.

I am going to look on autotrader, any other place to look for them?

Also I will never really do any off-roading or a ton of towing...strictly going for the 11's with this. It might be cheaper for me to put a diesel engine in a SRT10!

any way should i get a 2wd and save the weight of the 4x4???

as a owner of a 04 dodge and a 94 dodge ctd, i would say go with the dodge.the chevy gets better mpg then the dodge, some say better comfort, but how many different engines has chevy duracraps has there been since the 90's.remember cummins makes the engines not dodge, and the 5.9 is in alot of other stuff for a reason.the 6.7 dosen't have the mpg as the older 12/24 valve motors, but it seems to be ok,plus the new ones don't have the 48re in them, and i here the new autos are real nice.you can go to the tdr web site and read up on the dodges(good and bad)

Thats sounds like what I am looking for! is there a difference in the 02-06 years?

well i know from what i'v read an heard from talking with my buddys 04 to 06 are the years to get if your tring to build power... most cummins have plastic intercoolers...so if you run anything over 25+ pounds of boost you'll blow the sides off the intercooler. but if you look closely you can find some 04's - 05's with an alum. intercooler..you can run a good bit of boost.. i know he is running around 35-45 pounds of boost.....like i said he has around 500-600 bucks in programers and around 3 grand in the tranny..... and he is pushing some outragious numbers... i'll try to get some more info on what programs he is using i know of the PPE,4inch Strights, boost fooler... and i think a power puck.... and i know for a fact that he can out run just about anything stock we were messing around with a mustang......we were rolling about 70mph punched it and just walked off and left him... i honestly am thinking about trading my truck in for a 2wd duelly.... i want to run 24.5 alcoas with it bagged laying frame... i just think they are bad ass

o an just rember DuraJUNK and PowerJoke lol

Ok, so a 04-06 CTD 2wd QC is what I am going to look for. Saw one for sale that had 24's on it and it looked good.

yeah thats what i would look for... also i'v got a hook up trannys i dont know where your located but the guy is in Conroe Texas called Darkside Diesel....

also another thing to rember is.. i'v heard that the new 6.7's are hard to make power with cause of all the new emmisons stuff.. i'v heard of guys spending 5-600 bucks just to put stright pipe on the 6.7 just to get the PCM to work right with it
