:dontknow: Which oil filter should we be using on our trucks ? The standard 5281090 ( same as Fram PH16) or the performance filter from dealer P4452890 ? What are the benefits (if any ) for the performance filter ? It costs $12.60 vs. $5.00 for the standard one.I remember someone saying the FRAM makes a lot of noise on start-up.:dontknow:

still havent got enough miles to do my 1st but ive always heard good things about NAPA Gold filters better than Mobil 1 but ive always used Mobil 1 oil and mobil 1 filters never ever had or heard any complaints maybe this thread will chane all that if someone else can help???

I have always used K&N filters and Royal Purpal oil. My last car had close to 200 track passes and never missed a beat.

Refer to my previous thread on oil change, I use the K&N filter right now, I am happy with how it works.
I can tell you that DC Performance uses Wix filters for their oil changes.

Fram filters are crap, I won't use them. I've got K&N HP2004 on mine.
I agree. I read a review a few years back and Fram was rated at the bottom. Their internal construction was "cheap", using cardboard in certain places where most others used metal. I stopped using Fram after that.

Still need to know what about the performance filter from Mpar vs.their standard . What was the purpose for the better one ?

My thoughts are this...I go to Dodge and ask for a filter for my SRT-10 and they give me a standard Mopar filter (two for 10 bucks). I save my receipts and if the motor takes a crap....they have to honor "their" warranty 'cause that's waht they sold me for my truck. .......steps off soap box.......:D

"Performance" filter will usually have a stronger case(higher burst strength), it may be larger for more oil capacity, and will usually have a different filter media to filter out smaller particles.
Most factory branded filters are bought from another manufacturer and stamped with whatever logo. Give these sites a read, pretty interesting stuff. I'm sticking with Mobil 1 or K&N filters for my truck.

I'm using the filter from Boomer that has the cartridge in it that you changed every 10K miles.
