I guess B&M or the X-Metal shifters are the ones people are putting in their RC's.

Can you guys ellaborate on which one and why you chose it?

Price difference? Performance difference? Functionally different and different in appearance?

Thanks!

full race x-metal is the stick of choice!! B&M is a great shifter, I have one myself never a problem witih it. Third gear misses are thing of the past with either shifter.

If ya want the ultimate shifting shifter, race wise, tad of noise , few months to get go with X-metal, cant go wrong , helluva shifter.

If ya want better shifting than stock, reliability, and economical $ wise, go with B@M cant go wrong.

Awesome threads! Thanks for the info!

I want to retain the factory look. I want the best shifting performance PERIOD! The clutch is already chattery on these trucks. A little more noise I probably won't mind.

We're not talking about crazy loud annoying noises are we? Just more chattering?

What's the price difference between the two though?

X- metal is around $600 I think

B@M around $250

I would contact Mutt, He has a killer deal on a shifter:rock:

I have never used the X-Metal, but just installed the B&M last night...this thing is awesome... Talk to MAS (Uniboy) about his X-metal...

Just the progression of Garys efforts basically.

his latest shifter is the best "race" shifter, tho some have said its a tad noisy, but shifts like a formula 1 race car.

All the others were basically the same, like the one Mutt has , I actually sold him, shifted tons better than stock , had all the latest upgrades, and actually was the quietest of any shifter I tried, although i would ask Mutt how it is in his truck.

this is just a personal oberstavtion ok?

with the B@M shifter, or one of Gary's first shifters if ya dont like them, you can most likely get what ya got into it back out , and try another.

With the latest X-metal shifter they are around $600-$650 area and have seen numerous ones on here for $400 and they cant hardly get rid of them.

So keep that in mind:D Sorry Gary ya know I always tell it straight:p

regardless of hich shifter you pick, do the centerforce clutch upgrade......... helps tremendously !!

I have the B&M in my Viper and Ram, love em. Never used Gary's.

Note, I think Gary is a little behind with getting his shifters out, may want to ask him on the phone how long it may take to get.

Whoa...You broke your handle???? Uh, I don't have the luxury to drive anywhere to pick up a new one. :dontknow: I'll be ordering online.

Makes me think the quality isn't so good on this product. How'd that happen?

My fault  twisted on a after-market shifter handle with the wrong threads :dontknow: and I am not a little guy:D

I have a Gen I Boomer shifter I will sell for $75.00. No handle! If I get Boomes new Rocket, noiseless shifter handle:D I will sell the original handle to go with it and only ask another $25.00.

I'd sure love to know more about this new Rocket, noiseless shifter handle...

With the major complaint about Gary's shifter being the noise and the twist in yer hand, this would go a long ways to alliviating a big problem with Gary's Gen 4 shifters... So what's the skinny?

Django

i just did the viper master/slave, centerforce clutch and fodanza flywheel and the gen iv shifter.
as stated by stinker if you want an all out race shifter gen iv is the way. yes it is noisy, but try turning up the radio :dontknow:

the truck is awesome now with these parts installed and i will post how it all acts when i put the truck through the "paces".

i have a little over 600 miles on the clutch so it is coming soon.:D
