Who shimmed their clutch?

I saved that picture earlier this morning. Thank you. My viper spec t56 is from a gen 2 coupe. I have to measure once the trans is dropped right?

Yes measuring is done prior to installing tranny. Measure twice, install once. Haha
Basically your clutch isn't disengaging completely at higher rpms and not allowing you to shift till rpms drop enough to get in gear by rev match basically.
A truck I learned long ago on these trannys/clutches
When someone has a speed shifting issue, is to park on a flat surface, no brakes, rev engine in first to your shift speed/redline while clutch is depressed and in 1st gear. If the truck starts to move forward a hair in those higher rpms, clutch isn't disengaging enough. Therefore shimming of slave required.
You'll get it, you're crossing uncharted territory like a 6 speed Quad Cab :)

Thanks for the encouragement. I went pick up a trans jack at a buddy's house today. Also as of today, we are working 6-6. So ill have to wait until Saturday after work or Sunday to get some day light. Oddly enough, tracking shows my shims will be here Friday. And that's with slow ground shipping.

Ok gentlemen, here are the two pictures i have for your reference. Now these arent the exact way the tape measure and scale was held when i recorded the measure but it will demonstrate where and how i measured.

clutch fingers to bell trans mounting surface face measures 2 1/8"

Face of trans mounting surface to end of bearing is 2 1/4"(in the picture, the bearing is not pushed back toward the transmission. For the measurement, it IS with the spring taken out.)

If that's correct that's 2.250-2.125= .125. So i need to shim it roughly .075?

Please correct me if im wrong. Ill wait for confirmation before i reinstall.

I guess i wont wait. I put nearly 1/16 worth of shims. I have the trans in and i will button it up in the am for a test run.

Little update here. I bought a McLeod RXT dual disc clutch. After 100miles, i figured out the slave cylinder is too long in over all length(OAL) for my clutch set up. Oh joy.

Has anyone every have the plastic dust cover and the metal piece that moves on the slave machines to have the OAL reduced? Looks like i will have to get .250" taken off. I dont see how it will be a problem. I work at a machine shop and having someone chuck up on the piece in a lathe is not a problem. Best of all, it's free. However, they can not machine me something from a raw piece of stock. That would cost an insane amount of $$ and time.

Lets just say it doesnt work, is that peice able to be buy new without buying the whole slave?

For those curious, this is why i need to do this which should never apply to anyone's truck here. I do have a custom build.

As you can see the OAL is 2.000.

Clutch finger to bell housing face is LESS measuring at 1.875(picture is only a reference)http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff111/raguncajun/DSC01749_zpsscly8jmw.jpg

aftermarker slave is doable. Aftermarket master is not an option right now.
