Who's using the AEM engine management on their truck?

Cool! I was going to see if you wanted to go!

I'm ready to give it a go. Let's line 'em up!:burnout:

I plan on having the car on the trailer and ready to go in the AM. Any idea when the gates open?

i hear ya eric........ personally, i like a harnessed unit that can be put in, unlike vec which is spliced in....... i toying with the idea of that aem setup with a roe supercharger thru the guys @ rrev you recommended........ what do ya think ?

Tough to justify the AEM cost-wise on that. It's a big investment for what I'd guess would be a somewhat minimal HP gain. No question that John could make that Roe be all it can be, but would it be worth it? Probably not.

If you plan on going big eventually, you may well end up with one anyway.;)

i understand........ personally, i like the top mount twin screw....... if i go big (internal build) later, who's to say a bigger pulley for boost on the roe wouldn't put out the hp that the paxton does ???

Just looked up the info. Gates open at 3, racing starts at 4.

Well, I will be there as soon as possible on Friday.

I just went to MAX RPM and scheduled a dyno session for Monday 13th. We will see what we can do with my VEC software as far as data logging and dyno files.

As a side note, I spoke with Joe at PBJ. He is willing to consider doing house calls. I am giving seriouse consideration to calling in a proven tuner. Get yours running, and maybe we can get a 2 for 1 deal.

I know someone. :) 1fast400

He started with a Roe and is now Paxton... From what i've heard the Roe tops out around 9-10 pounds.

Patrick, you've got to realize that this build has gone far beyond what the Paxton management will deal with properly. This isn't the typical Paxton install that most have undertaken. We're talking about TWICE the stock horsepower here after all, just on a pump gas program. I have Boomer building a complete fuel system for 90# injectors just to feed this beast. Tuning for the cam/intake/head combo would be really tough with anything else (unless I lived near DC Perf, but even then...).

I figured I could probably get by with it for a time with the stock injectors and the DC blower flash (there's a few more bucks down the toilet), but there's no need for me to do that now.

The AEM is going allow for the kind of tuning that will allow this truck to idle, and make the highest power possible across the full RPM range. Plus, like the VEC, I can load different programs for street (pull a bunch of timing to make it driveable on street tires), racing, different levels of boost, and different fuels. It will also allow for full data logging of all parameters.

Outside of a standalone engine management system, this is the way for me to go.

Cool, I didnt realize you had such a build going on.

That would be a very wise decision. With Joe you could be confident that you are safely getting all the power out of it. ;)

Actually, it's a smaller pulley for more boost.

Per pound of boost, I don't think the Roe can make as much power as the Paxton because of the Paxton's intercooling. Even more so if you add the water/meth injection to the Paxton that the Roe must have. The Roe has the best low RPM efficiency and, for some, it's higher on the Tim Allen index.

what kind of hp do you guess that makes ??:dontknow:

At most it was making 900 RWHP. But there was lots of belt slippage after those #'s. It's still a fast truck, his one video he pulled in the 11's and hearing that Roe absolutly SCREAMING is pretty damn cool.

Awesome! We'll see you there!

I'm sure Joe's a capable tuner, but John Reed is a certifiable genius with the AEM and Vipers.

he's very pro-paxton......... he didn't seem interested in tuning the roe, to me....... :dontknow:

I already trashed one belt with my older smaller pulley. Just ground another one for a better fitment. Holding fine now with no slippage, or none noticable.
