Why 4 cats?

I never really thought to much about this until now, but what is the REAL reason DC put 4 cats on our trucks, then in 05 even added a resonator?

My original thought was to de-turn the RWHP a little, but they could have just done that threw PCM programming....

Hmmm, I do not think the GEN III Viper has 4? Maybe someone else knows for sure? I know the GEN I did not. Which if that is the case I do not see how it could be EPA realted, although maybe the rules are more restricitve on trucks vs cars?

gen III does. Gen I was before OBD2.

I dont recall exactly how it goes but this is what i remember, the first cat is to control Nox, I dont exactly remember what Nox is but i just remember it has something to do with cooling hot gasses, the second cat is meant to burn all the left over hydraCarbons and Co's...

the header companies probably love the cats. it makes their product seem that much better!
