Why not auto trans?

The auto was never a consideration when I purchased mine, regular, quad or quadruple cab! With 92%+ of all cars in the US being automatics, making a factory RC with an automatic would have been a good move, sales wise. The regular cab was the fastest production truck, not the quad cab version. I haven't driven mine but I know that I'd rather have a manual for this vehicle. ;)

You drive a manual. You steer an automatic. My 0.02c

dont forget about the adapter tho bro;)

ask Jack what he has in his:D

Some duct tape will take care of that....:D

yeah I love my Q/C but there are times I would sure like to jam some freakin gears! Guess I will have to buy a R/C someday!

I love manuals, but when I bought my truck it was to be my daily driver for about about 2 years, and I knew that I would be having to deal with Phoenix traffic... (you LA, NY, etc.. guys all know what I am talking about).

Sure a manual is more fun on the wide open road.. thats why my sand car is a 4 speed manual but when you are stuck in traffic most of the time (like 60+%) manuals become a severe burden.....

So I bought a auto QC.

Maybe this coming summer I will sell my QC and go by a 2005 or 2004 RC.... now that I have my cummins diesel to drive daily....

Why didn't they make a regular cab with an auto trans?
actually(i believe) they made 50 RCs' with an automatic..the VCA editions.

p.s. maybe just the ones that were used as pace vehicles?

When I started looking at these trucks I wanted a regular cab with an automatic. I had to make a choice between what I wanted most, regular cab with stick or quad with auto.
It was like the lesser of to evils...No offense to quad guys!
Does anyone know why we couldn't have either way?
Can my truck be changed over to auto without breaking the bank?
What if I found a totaled truck and took that set up?:dontknow:
Talk to Ron at Suncoast. They are authorized installers of Gear Venders. I would have done it but didn't have 3 days for the install (new driveshaft cutting).

No the 50 VCA's are 6 speeds. The Pace trucks and I think they made 2 are automatic. I think the pace trucks were suppose to be crushed.:dontknow:

I'd stay completely away from Gear Vendors. The "splitting" gears is a gimmick, slow as pig shlte. The stock unit is OK but even Rick at GV says it is impossible to hit perfectly. I have the new autoshift sequencer unit which is utter crap. I've had it 2 years now and it's still not working. Kicks out of OD, slopping inconsistent shifts and harsh jolting shifts. We've been working with gear vendors to correct it and have been through several modules, many international phone calls and nothing, kaput, zip, Nada. It's still a pile of shlt and still the worst modification I have ever made to any of my vehicles. Also, GV hasn't paid a sent so we're doing their R&D and I'm paying the labour costs to do it, I can't help it, needs to be done.

I have a 13+ page thread about it and updates at cuda-challenger.com which I am a long time member of so this isn't a rant at them but pure fact based on my experiences. Rick (GV pres) has been good about it but he only got involved with it 6-8 months ago. If I were anyone looking for a modern auto, forget the splitting and grab a 5 or 6-speed automatic and call it a day. My 0.02c
