WIDER TIRE

Can someone explain the gearing ration thing and why it is better to have 4:56 than 4:10 by going with a taller tire?

The stock size over height is 31.5 inches tall.

Those are only 28.8" tall. Your front tires will be taller than the rears, unless you make the same compensation for the fronts. Looking at the truck, you're gonna notice 2.7" difference. . . :)

i wouldn't go wider in the front , but as we have our lowering blocks we can do anything to level again with 1.35" lower rear tires

I have now the 2" blocks... would be almost no need for them anymore ...:D

shorter tire as in smaller diameter..in effect your changing the gear ratio from stock (4:10 on a 04') to a lower gear (numerically higher) as barry pointed out it would work out to a 4:48 with a 28.8" tall tire.

Thanks. So what gear ratio is stock on the 05 RC. I find that I get to redline too quick in first...would a lower gear help me by going to a taller tire?

05s' and 06's have the 4:56 ratio,i have been entertaining the idea of changing to the 4:56s'.

As Sancho said your gearing is a 4.56.............changing your gears to 4.88 would bring your rpms up faster. To slow em down, your would have to go the other way like to 4.10..........which would be a bad idea.

Sancho, changing from the 4.10 to 4.88 was awesome. Truck feels way way lighter. I would defiantly change out to the 4.56 vs staying stock. Driving though parking lots or any slow speed situations is much easier. Its also easier on the clutch.

My rears are 325's on an 11.5 inch wheel. They are Toyo Proxes. The guy that did my wheels can do steel or aluminum.

what rate do your 325 have ?
because i think 335/25/22 will be very, very low profile tires....:dontknow: perhaps overkill on our trucks :dontknow: :dontknow:

looked this morning on my tires and can't imagine one which is 1.35" lower ...

YEP!!

325's on 11 inch rims. They will fit on the stock rim but will have a little more buldge in the sidewall.

I have a little bit of rub when she bottoms out, I never hear it it but is evedent from rub marks on the plastic well liners.

Hey Sanchoba
I'm running an ECSTA STX by KUMHO, size 325/40R22 on my stock SRT-10 wheels on the rear. They look good but don't offer any more traction than the stock size tires.

Just keep a heads up if your running Calvert's and you start reducing the tire height from the OEM 31.5"... I believe I had about 2" of ground clearance after reducing to a 28" tall Nitto DR...

Finally went with the M&H Slick...(after the blower) keeping the 31.5" height.
