Will I be the 5th or 6th?

Got my new drive shaft today!

This thing is THICK! Also lighter. The factory driveshafts weigh in at 38lbs. The new aluminum one weighs in at 21 lbs and that includes the slip yoke! Thats a pretty big difference. 1/2 the weight.

I had to cut out the brace under the truck that the carrier bearing was bolted to because it contacted the driveshaft.

I got the shaft from Drive Shaft Specialists.

First thoughts about a 6-speed viper truck. Way more power. Way more fun. Truck feels like this is how it's supposed to be. THe engine even sounds different.

On the highway in 6th gear i was getting around 14-16 mpg. Huge improvement. Over all I am thrilled at this swap. It was relatively easy as far as transmission swaps go and I know that in the future I could probably do the swap in 3 hours instead of 5 now that I know what I am doing.

Side note. I installed JTSVP power steering lines, and my fan is constantly on. Anyone encounter this?

Glad the driveshaft worked for ya and thanks for the weight on them I've been wondering the difference

17 lbs of rotating mass gone makes a big difference!!

I love the clutch engagement. I don't think I have ever driven an easier manual transmission vehicle.
