X-Metal Gen IV Shifter for Sale

I have one on order...

And to tell you the truth... I am actually starting to regret it because of these probs that people are having.

1.) I do not know why there would be any twisting in the shift? Can sombody please explain this?

2.) I do not want a shifter that is going to throw the trans out of 2nd gear

3.) I do not want a shifter that is going to be a complete whore to get into 3rd gear.

The noise I can handle...

But this other stuff... I hope it is alot less irritating and experiancible than some are making it out to be...

I just want to never miss 3rd gear on an upshift while racing, and I want to have a smooth working tranny.

don't get me wrong........ this gen4 shifter eliminates the issue of missed upshifts to 3rd under full throttle -- PERIOD !!!!!!!:D

FOR ANYONE WHO WISHES TO AVOID THIS ISSUE -- THIS IS THE SHIFTER FOR YOU !!!

i highly recommend it for that purpose...... i'm only having a slight issue with downshift to 2nd & only once in awhile... i'm hoping that with boomers install adjustments & some break-in period, that issue will resolve itself....... you're not going to find a shifter on the market that will eliminate this issue of missed upshifts to 3rd under full throttle like the gen4 shifter...... obviously, this is why we bothered to buy a different shifter, the stock one is a POS !!!

boomer -- hats off to you & all your hard work !!! i'm very pleased with this shifter & your prompt, courteous professionalism...... thanks again !!

I am happy with the shifter except for 2nd gear popping out, if i dont push in a little harder than the rest of the gears.I guess its worth it to not miss thired when I eventually race it.The only one that mentioned the noise issue was my wife, but that was only when I first got it.Overall a nice piece of work.

Bill loosen up the boot and pull it into 2nd hard a few times. The boot might be causing your 2nd gear pop out problem.

Ill try it once i get finished with the Paxton. Its coming along well.I took a week off of working on it due to being busy at my job and being just too tired.
Putting that serpentine belt in last night was a bitch .
I cant wait to get it running.:dancing: :burnout: :D

Charles, thanks for the "splaining"!! How is that twist motion gonna be if you have a ripstick?

patrick

Hard to say.....I didnt go with the rip stick option, currently running the shifter arm from the Gen II. Boomer is working on getting the next batch of shift handles out.

thanks guys for all of your input.
the GEN4 is unique in that it does require a break in process. it has tight tolerances, and EVERY tremec tranny has the center of the shifter mount opening offset a little, in relationship to the center intersect point of the of the four mounting holes. meaning, that no shifter is going to sit dead nuts centered the same on 2 trannsmissions.
the gates on the shifter, need to be broken in to work with each tranny, and the shifter itself needs to be broken in over time, also, and the more you use it, the better it works. its set up tight to last a long long time, and to ensure each gear gate locks in. its not a pussy shifter, and the SRT isnt for pussyfooting- thats my take any ways.
on a downshift, it needs the same kinetic energy that the upshift required, to lock in that gate. i do recomend that if you loosen the mounting bolts 1/4 turn and bang 3rd gear a few times with the clutch pushed in, and then retighten. more often than not, time and breaking it in like you intend to drive it is the best method for mating your Gen4 with your truck.
i am always around for any concerns or questions and i appreciate everyones feedback and support. thats why i do what i do for Vipers and SRT's its a passion for the vehicles, but more importantly the folks who drive them. thanks again

just installed a new performance shifter in my GT2 and it requires a break in as well...a little rough for the first couple of weeks....now it is banging...I believe the mating parts are brass and need to kinda mesh together from hard shifting...
