WTF is this????! Spider Bite??!

Yeah, it does, brother Earl.....

Venomous snakes usually will warn you beforehand, Diamondbacks and rattlers... The other vipers seem to be unwilling to bite unless you step on them....

There is one exception..... The fkn Cottonmouth... I've heard that they're just plain mean and will bite just cuz they have a badass attitude... I don't have any experience with them myself... But my southeastern friends say that the cottonmouth has the worse reputation of all..... Plus they spend alotta time in the water where they go virtually unnoticed until they strike....

Someone with more direct experience with cottonmouths chime in...

Thats true. The only thing is if it was a cottonmouth he would be dead by now.

Well. I'm not certain (not convinced) I know a whole lot more since this AM. My wonderful insurance requires that I be referred to a specialist. I can start there. I had to start off by going to a Walk-In facility - A Nurse Practitioners office.

I get checked in and seen, and the (I forget job title - it wasn't an MD) says I've got an alergic reaction to some sort of vine/plant/leaf. I've been around lots of herbs and shubbery in my short life, and do not recall being alergic to ANY of it! (HAHA!) As stated, the doctor insists that I've got an alergic reaction to something.

As Jim (VIPER PWR) noticed, I've got some other red spots on my leg, as well as my arms. Those spots only itch ever so slightly. It's not like I feel the dire need to scratch them. He says it's unlikely that I coinsedently aquired (4) BRS bites, AND an alergic reaction at the same time. He assumes it's all the same.

However he didn't totally rule-out the possibility of it being a BRS bite. Some chick gave me a shot of 'roids in the ass, and I have more 'roids to pic up tomorrow. If this doesn't affect in a few days, I've got anti-biotics I can pick up.

THEN, if neither of these prescriptions knock it out, or if shows to get worse as opposed to get better or show signs of getting better. THEN we'll assume is BRS bite. According to him there isn't an "anti-venom". The shit will have to be cut out.

As of right now. There is visible/physical difference than the pics I posted early this AM.

If it is steadily getting worse i would say screw it and get a second opinion WITH THE QUICKNESS! I am going to lean towards a bite unless you were scratching the hell out of it and it scabbed over. You have to remember just because hes a doctor doesn't mean he knows everything .

I hate insurance when it comes to stuff like this! I separated my clavicle few years back shoulder locked up my side was stiff as a rock and i could barely function . So i drive to the ER for help they call the insurance people while i am being looked at , no big deal right. Wrong the insurance asked to speak with me while i was there and tell me that i can not just go to the ER for an injury like this i need to make an appointment with a doctor. WTF!!! Bone is clearly out of place cant move not to mention pain. So now i went from fixing to get xrays to heres a sling we really cant do much for you. Have a good day, talk to the nurse shell give you some tylenol for the pain.

I work in the ER as a PA. I see this sort of thing on a daily basis. Based on your pictures and your story, this is most likely not the result of a Brown Recluse bite, and certainly not that of a Black Widow. It looks like you have cellulitis. It could be the result of any type insect bite, or anything else that would allow a portal of entry for bacteria to get into your skin. You should be on some Bactrim or Doxycycline, as these cover MRSA, which has become very prevelant in the community. You should also be doing hot water soaks of the affected areas. If you can't soak it, put a hot wash rag on it. Good Luck.

The context of the cottonmouth dialogue had nothing to do with him being bitten by one.... It was a digression (rabbit trail) discussion about poisonous snakes.... No one ever said he was bitten by one....

Finally an expert opinion........

Well done.....

It is not even close to the look of a black widow bite.....

MRSA is quite prevelent and a nasty form of infection........

Good luck, Jimi...........
