According to Advanced Auto these trucks come with one of the cheapest plugs you can get coming in at $1.99 each (i think some kind of bosch). I've been getting about 15mpg on the highway like it is and im pretty sure that could be a lil better with some decent plugs. i just want performance though, fuel economy isn't my goal with this truck :p

What kind of plugs are you guys running and how do they perform?

Stick with the stockers. I use a couple shades colder then stock being blown.

Can you get the stock ones in a colder temp? With a tune I'm gettin a little knockin and was wondering where I could get colder plugs at?

A colder plug can be more beneficial if the plug is causing pre-ignition. With forced induction, you have a higher combustion temperature and your plug can literally end up glowing red hot on the tip and igniting the mixuture before the spark actually fires. The solution is to go with a colder plug. If you go too cold, it will foul too easy and cause missfire. With fuel injection it is less of a problem than it was with carbeureted motors since carbs at times would be way rich and cause the plug to foul.

If you can afford $249.95 for a set of plugs go with Pulstars. They are sold in pairs at $49.99 each pack. :eek:WHOA do they make a difference.

Apparently they also lower your cholesterol, raise your pulse and help make a sales receipt look INSAAAANE!

If I go with the Pulstars (and I'm sure I will) I'll have a complete set of NGK IX iridium (ZFR6FIX-11) for $60.00 + shipping (new in box) that I'll need to get rid of.

I don't know if they will help with the clap, but you can probably get some penicillin that would fix that....:D

There ALWAYS has to be a funny guy huh?

Haha, not really burning to spend money, just always interested in improvement. Iridiums sound good, i work for a metal stamping plant and i just had to learn that the melting point for iridium is 4440 degrees fahrenheit.

only the best for me picked up 82 rwhp just with a plug swap

Saw this on another forum take it any way you want:dontknow:

I arranged with the makers of pulstar plugs to send me a set. These plugs were suppose to crank up the spark.. increase compression and power..

I worked out a time to borrow the dyno at dynosport to run some test. What I had in my car going to the dyno were all AC Delco uraniums with about 4,000 miles on them.. They are 100,000 mle plugs so i figured they were still good... at this point its giving the pulstars the advantage.. Well after doing some averaging.. it was concluded the pulstars increased power by 1hp and lost 1tq at the wheels over my used AC Delcos. I left them in to see if it would increase fuel economy. At first it seemed that I gained a couple mpg in town.. but after a few weeks that tappered off. I assume the difference wasn't the plugs but possibly gas/driving/enviroment.

Long story short.. they dont' work at least not as advertised.. All the cars they test are stock... My car is no where near stock.. however considering the method they are suppose to work... there should be equal improvement on my car over a stock...

Well it gets better. My car started acting up after the first snow storm... I kept thinking it was probably my 02's. They needed to be replaced but this didn't feel like 02s. although the rich smell and hte o2 codes said otherwise..

Well to get to my o2's i have to lower my headers. NOT an easy task... because of the way they drop i have to remove my sparkplugs... which means remove the pulstars... the first one came out just fine... looked just fine (color of the plug thats in the head) but that was the last one that came out that way.. every other one came out breaking... the ceramic coating that is... one was broken before i even put the socket over it. i had a hard time getting my socket over it.. because of the ceramic piieces laying underneither the plug on the head... so after strugglling for about 5 mins with it i finally go it off and it came out in peices.. just the top half everything inside the head was ok.. but this was obviously my problem.. So long story short they dont' work and are piles of shit.
