Well I know this may not be dead accurate but Im desperate to find out. So I went to the local gravel pit and drove on the scale. The guy at the scale house said its only accurate within 20lbs but it gets certified regularly. With a 1/3 of a tank and no spare it was 5140 without me in it.

My '04 is 5080 with half a tank of fuel, spare on board, and no driver.

If thats true then they're pretty close in weight! Where did the rumor come from that the 06's were such fat pigs?
What is your build date? Interesting that our trucks are so close in weight. I should mention I have a drop in plastic bedliner that has to weigh something.
I found these researching on this site a month or so ago. Massive majority agreed that they seem spot on. 
2004-2005 RC = 5000 lbs (2,270kg)
2004-2005 QC = 5400 lbs (2,450kg)
2006 RC = 5150 lbs (2,335kg)
2006 QC =5550 lbs (2,520kg)
2004-2005 RC = 5000 lbs (2,270kg)

The 2006 Reg Cab is 150 pounds heavier than the 2004/2005 Reg Cab
Just in case you missed it the first three times it was posted, the difference in an 04-05 RC and an 06 RC is 150 pounds.

Did 05's come with the hard tonneau? Does the weight of the tonneau have any thing to do with the extra weight on the 06?
The c.e.'s did right?? Im pretty sure...
My '04 has a hard tonneau cover, but it wasn't on when I weighed my truck. The 06's are 150 pounds heavier than the 04's and 05's with all things being equal. This is due to the 06's having a 3/4 ton frame under them.
