I have belanger longtubes, catless JMB mids, and a magnaflow cat-back. I am looking to install a crossover at the spot where the two sides begin running side by side. Roughly 3-4 feet from the muffler, and the same distance from the passenger collector. Right where the mids meet the cat-back. I have true 3" duals all the way back.

What will each do to the sound? The deceleration popping? The power? Is it true that x-pipes won't work because the drivers side has an extra 3' of pipe?

Also, what I want in this change.
1) quieter idle
2) more exotic sound when spooled up
3) maybe slightly higher pitch
4) LOUDER when opened up.

Easy, roe the Magnablow for our SnakeBite exhaust and X pipe! Done ;)
Check out the sound clips sir

Your exhaust sounds absolutely awe inspiring. But I'm looking for a one off sound. But I think the x-pipe is the correct route now.

Do you have the magnaflow cat back kit if so I think it's got an x pipe built inside but I'm not sure

It does. I will change the muffler for two of something at sole point, but for now I just want to get a crossover into the system close enough to the collectors to actually do something.

It already has a crossover built into it. Don't waste your time unless your going to change your mufflers at the same time. I would be willing to bet that installing a x pipe will do nothing for you.

So what would an h-pipe in the location I picked do? I intend to change the mufflers in the spring when I'm gonna drive the truck again. Hell, I might break down and buy the snakebites.

H and x pipe both do the same thing just different way of doing it. So with out changing to a twin muffler set up neither will help in what you want to do. Just do it all at once and save your self some time.

I just don't know what mufflers I want yet. I posted what I wanted sound wise. Does everyone agree that I should install an x-pipe with new mufflers?

I've watched that video about 30 times. I understand what I want. It's just the matter of how far back I can realistically get the crossover. It's about mid truck. I know not many people here have x-pipes, so I'm kinda wasting everyone's time. I apologize for this. I may just have to bite the bullet and be the test mule. I love the sound of x-pipes on v8's. it gives them an amazing exotic sound. I'm not sure how that would work on our inline 5's that we have stuffed under our hoods. But if I can make it fit, I will try it out for you guys.

Borla has an H-pipe just ahead of the mufflers.....if that helps any.

That is the part I got today. Hopefully I can get it on, and then get to work on figuring out what mufflers to run. I've heard that the magnaflow muffler had an internal x pipe, but that it necks down to 2.5" bottle necking a true dual 3" exhaust. Is that true?

The magnaflow is a dual 3" in/out, however about 6" in front of the muffler it steps down to 2 1/2". It steps down because the factory pipes are 2 1/2". I cut the 3" long piece of 2 1/2" pipe off my magnaflow, welded on a v band clamp, and extended my mid pipe with 3" to make it 3" from the collectors back. Did not notice much difference, if any.

I also did that. But in other posts people say there is another 2.5" portion within the muffler itself.

I'm thinking I'm gonna go to dual borla xr-1 mufflers with the x-pipe. Should give it a wicked exotic sound with our v10.

I will let you know how that sounds after this weekend as I will be installing a bassani x-pipe and borla x1rs on my brothers truck. He has bassani headers and b&b mid pipes with high flow cats
