05 qc 112k for 14k...a deal?

Simply put
Can a Ram SRT10 QC tow the trailer? Yea
Should it? No
Can you get better MPG? Yea keep your foot out of it and don't tow.
Can you run less than 93? Yea
Should you? No
What happens if I run less than 93? You risk putting the piston through the side of the block because of detonation and the weak pistons.
Can I tow? Can you replace transmissions?

Now the $14k for a Ram SRT10 doesn't sound like such a good deal for what you need does it?

tell me why I cant when those others can

that is what I WANT to hear

No one said you can't... but you're basically looking for a work truck. Swapping gears, different tune to run 89 octane, worried about mpg, pulling a 24ft trailor with a 3500lb race car in it. Not really what the SRT was designed for.

But hey, by all means, if it makes you happy then go for it.

its a wonder we had to go thru 2 pages to get to that

thanks for getting them pointed in the helping direction kyle

Damn you guys are harsh lol. He didn't ask if it was the best option, he just asked if he could get better mileage. I think the answer is no. Maybe someone with a 4 door can chime in and tell you what mileage they get. My guess is 8mph or less! :D

More so just trying to help him out from making a bad investment... to each their own

Im not worried about mpg, but if I can spend 1k to swap gears to gain 3-4 mpg, it'd pay for itself... figured someone would know realistic numbers because maybe someone had actually done it since the trucks have been out for 10 years now.

oh wait, we didn't answer the good for 200k miles question...

NO, not the way you are planning to treat it.

lol you'd think i was planning on pulling the trailer every day and changing the oil when the light comes on

I guess I am being harsh.

The gear change will give you better MPG.
Don't skimp on the 93 octane though.
The trans will be your weak point.

thank you albert

I want the truck sick.. because they are bad ass... can i not seek some sort of confirmation it can do what i need it to do before i buy it?

I don't think your going to save enough fuel to offset the cost of the gear swap and tune. The price difference from midgrade to premium is really negligible, it'll tow and stop the weight just fine.

The best thing about the members here is that they try their best to give you their opinion (which most of the time is spot on)

At this point you should have all the facts you need to make a sound decision.

If you still intend on buying this QC (even after their warning) please post up some pictures. These trucks are awesome and are a blast to drive but they really are designed to go fast and look good with an occasional trailer in tow.

The only advise i can give is 93 is not required (in Kansas we do not have any stations which sell 93, i am forced to used 91 and have not had any problems in the 2 years i have owned my RC.)

FRIGGIN DO IT ALREADY. That being said, I'll add my opinion. These are limited production trucks and everything in them was carefully engineered in by the Mopar design team. You take one, put 3.93 gears in it, de tune it to run on regular gas, etc, etc, is like taking an original Yenko Camaro and cutting the roof to put in a JC Whitney sunroof.
Buy a plain old Ram with a Hemi, modify it to do what you want and it don't matter. Why cuz there are millions of Hemi Rams.

Just my opinion,
carry on

Thank you all

I don't mind running 93
I also don't mind gearing it so I can enjoy it more, just like some gear it for more performance which is fun for them, but you will never find me in any mopar that has a motor in it that ends in .7
2.7
3.7
4.7
5.7
All junk
That's my job, car parts. Plus I don't really like plain stuff. Just too plain :)

Before I bought my '04 SRT 10, I had another '04 Ram that I bought new in Nov. '03. 4.7 / 5 speed manual. I put 188,000 on it and never had to open the engine. Up until I sold it a few months ago, I'd take it anywhere. Never leaked 1 drop on the garage floor. That aint junk.
