My ’05 QC, the fast red one, while traveling out in West Texas this week in 85 to 103 temp showed the following readings.

At 80 mph and 90 degrees the temp was 195-198 and the oil was the same.
At 80 mph and 100 degrees the temp went to 205 and the oil to 210
Slowed to 70 mph and the temp dropped to 198 and oil also went to 198
Kick it back to 80 mph and the temp and oil went back up.

Turn off the air conditioner at 80 mph (ain’t fun in this weather) and in a couple of miles the temp and oil went back down to the 198 area.

Realizing most of you guys will never see 100+ temps just thought it was interesting. Have always wondered about a radiator that would hold 3 to 4 more quarts. If you take a look at ours you will see that an extra row or 2 could be added. When the temp is over 205 and you turn on the heater the temp really goes down. Any thoughts and has anyone experimented with a larger radiator?

I'm getting about the same readings as you. We just had a few weeks of Africa hot here in Eastern PA. Well over 93 and all kind of humid. At 90-100 mph I had 210 oil & to the right of center on the temp gauge. If I back it down to 65 the temps will dip below 200. Worst part is when I shut it down for the toll booth.

I did some back reading and the fella known as "Prof" had a larger rad that is offered by Roe racing. You might want to search his posts out for info.

Did you data log the temps or go by the gauge? I would not sweat the temps as long as they don't continue to climb.

I personally did not think it was that hot in East PA (I'm in Lancaster, but work in Coatesville) this past week compared to GA/FL/LA/TX hot/humidity.

I'm going by the gauge.
Well it certainly wasn't Orlando in the summertime but hot for this neck of the woods.

Pretty normal. I've always stated our cooling system was just adequate. When we see temps soar well past 110F I can easily run it hard enough that the ECU will pull timing. Feels like someone threw out a boat anchor when it does it...

210 is nothing for the oil or the water

modern engines are designed to run hotter than some of us older folks were taught. this helps in the emissions dept for the manufacturer. sure a little cooler is better but 210 is not blowin it up either like the old days(and no, 1990 is not the old days for you you folks:D)

when i was testing for Roush we had to run pickups up the local mountain pulling loaded trailers. the trailers were always loaded at 75-90% of the trucks GCWR. everyone of them would run hard and would run the water temp to 225 and the oil temp to 227-232. these are things that we had to keep track of off the digital dash info screens, no external gauges .

i wish i could remember what the trans temp was but i'm getting older, want to say it was considerably higher but don't quote me on that.

You're in Lancaster? Why haven't we met yet?
