No more new Chrysler or Dodge vehicles to be sold in NZ. Detroit can't be bothered with Right Hand Drive.
Their loss. I am sure the Korean, Japanese and European car makers will be happy. How clever are they? They can manage to make both left and right hand drive vehicles.
At least we will still have Jeep and RAM (if you have $$$)
GM have also done the same. Sold their European divisions Vauxhall/Opel to PSA Group then closed Holden in Australia because most of their cars were from GM Euro oops buying from opposition.

When you hear about some of these business decisions, it really makes you want to scratch your noggin.
I worked for Chrysler when I was a kid in the mid-70s at their National Parts Depot in Red Deer Alberta, Canada.

Periodically we would take really cool (and rare) stuff out of stock (brand new, of course) such as: Fenders, hoods (including Shakers and Air-Grabber as well as the rare 4-pin 440-6 pack hoods with the tall scoop), bumpers, Cranks, Pistons, trim items, purple-shaft cams, rear 1/4s, rods, dashes, pistol-grip shifters, 6-pack intakes, magnesium cross-rams for the 426 Hemis, etc.

We also pulled some cool short block assemblies: 340 AAR, 426 Hemi, 440 6 pack, etc.

Where did they go? To the loading dock where some guy would slide them onto his flatbed truck deck and the engines were treated to a pick through the side, cutting torches, sledge hammers and anything else that was handy.

I intercepted a set of virgin 426 Hemi heads that were being SHIPPED from Montreal, across the country to Vancouver BC to be destroyed (highly efficient program they had there).That required some begging and pleading but I managed to get the pair for $700.00 and save them from a fate worse than death.

When I asked why these parts were being destroyed the only answer that made some sense was the write-off/loss was cheaper than storing and trying to sell them. Most of these parts were for vehicles only a few years old.

Yeah, there are always reasons, whether we agree with them or not is not important. We are not the owners of the company trying the best they can to survive/make a dollar. Sometimes you have to be brutal.

The real problem for me is I really don't fit in micro Asian cars. Heads in the roof and the knees are in the dash and the headrest is in the middle of my back.
Not what I call comfortable. I had a 2003 Jeep Cherokee/Liberty 2.8L Diesel for 11 years. That fitted me fine especially with a K&N filter a Tune, exhaust and LPG on the top of diesel 174 RWHP at 2000rpm Haven't had a Jap car for 25 years now. I try one every so often but the size is not there yet

Oh dear covid 19 rears it's head again. Looks like we are going to go backwards and lockdowns are in the wind.
We have community transmission in NZ and the govt never said anything for more than a week, let's wait and see if it is out of control.

The market is Just too small. They are not doing so well in a motoring climate where fuel is $8/gal. They can't compete with Jap, Korean and European fuel miser cars, then there is reliability....

Not saying Covid-19 isn't making the rounds like any other diseases I've seen pass through over the years (Bird Flu, Swine Flu, SARS, etc.) but I'm just not seeing people dropping dead in the streets nor the plague cross being painted on neighbors' doors by Storm Troopers.

And for the ultimate in confusion: You can have Covid-19 with NO symptoms.
They call it asymptomatic.

I wonder what a cold or the clap would be with no symptoms (still a cold, or the clap?).

The World Health Organization says the "regular" flu kills 290,000 to 650,000 people per year (every year). And it's done that for centuries without destroying the economy.

I'm not sure what is truly behind this one (other than making certain groups tons of money).

When Covid-19 dies down, it will likely be added to mysteries like the JFK assassination, UFOs and the attack on the twin towers.

It is part of nature....Darwin etc. In NZ it has only taken the really old (older than us) in rest homes with underlying medical conditions, or the really unhealthy.
There are many conspiracy theories out there, I don't necessarily believe any of them, but I do smell a rat. To me something is not right. Why was it and still is being sold to us.
We just had a strange week where the Covid TV ads were back, news items about wearing masks, Director General of health saying we should get some masks incase. Then the public announcement that masks work, The Director General of Health having a swab done on TV. New push on tracing app. Then bam here we are again a few days later. That is not a coincidence
