Well today I was out giving the beast a hard time and was 135mph in 5th and as our NZ roads are not exactly smooth I scraped going through a couple of dips lol

You got a lowering kit on it? And bumpstops?

Kiwi your suspension should be stiff enough to handle that dip in the NZ roads. something aint right with your suspension.

These trucks suspension is very stiff matter of fact it would just bounced and you would have felt it in the steering.

drivers side???

wait...

is she converted???

Yeah I thought these trucks rode hard, another 10mph would have seen me in the paddock. Scraped both sides too. It was a hairy ride, everything went weightless just before LOL May as well say it was a jump/drop off. 3rd time this has happened
I will investigate further(bump stops etc) I certainly will not be lowering it.
I notice on the original door sticker it came out with 17" wheels in 2003. Maybe like the deck lids the 22" arrived later at the dealer

Wasn't aware they issued 17" rims from factory. I've got the 22" with the lowering kit, and I've never had my tires rub, no matter how fast, and how hard the dip. Maybe the coils are weak?

yikes. Kiwi you might have to get on a stairmaster. too much weight in the cab. lol I recall years ago taking our magnum srt8 in for service. Stock suspension and I was rolling 80 or so heading up there. Hit a new low in the road and it bottomed out and did the same thing. I guess over time the suspension started sagging, original shocks, whatever but it was enough to make it rub on a hard hit like that. I wonder are your shocks original? And could the springs sag too?

Hmmm, the RAM VTS came out with a 488 cu inch V-10 with 17" wheels from the Viper GTS. It was a concept vehicle back in '96 but I don't believe it was released in the wild. I'm not really anything close to a Historian on these rigs or why yours had 17s.

If you insist on jumping your truck, you may glean valuable insight by watching Dukes of Hazzard reruns.

Yup, it clearly shows 17x8 wheels. The 15th digit in the V. I. N. is a "2" which means dual duals. (pretty sure). ;)

Because your truck came with 17s is it possible you have a different inner guard?
They certainly look a bit different now lol
Seen other 03 trucks with Vin tag reading the same as mine
Maybe the early ones, who knows
