Hey guys! Of course within (2) months of owning the truck my driver's-side front caliper decides to lock up and nearly burst into flames - I mean, it was smoking like a Waffle House parking lot! That said, I've ordered a couple rebuild kits from JTSVP. My questions are:

1) How difficult of a job is rebuilding a caliper?

2) Is bleeding the brakes needed? If so, will gravity bleeding slowly suffice? Turkey baster method okay?

3) During the rebuild, do you lube the seals?

4) I suppose painting the calipers while they're off is a good idea. What paint / color have others used?

I've often thought about better options than the front brake setup on these trucks. The more you try to keep those red calipers red at the carwash, the more likely they are to sieze up.

Like mine have...
A few times...

Rebuilt the calipers;
Fingers crossed.

Maybe one of the brake specialty places has a better setup. ??
Or at least a way to keep them less vulnerable to soap and water.

I believe the only other option we have beside rebuilding them is Tony’s Wilwood brake upgrade.

That's a little rich for my blood. Hopefully a good cleaning and rebuild gives me reliable brakes for at least a few years.

Yes, for me too! I want to say for the re build parts I was maybe in $200 for front and rear. But those Wilwoods would sure look nice behind the srt10 wheels!

Does anyone happen to know the bleeder screw size? I'm gonna order a wrench while I wait for my rebuild kits to come in.
