The Engine Build

It was a treat to come down here (albeit a number of years ago) and marvel at the low prices on everything. And, well, those days are long gone. Except for gas in the States, it's still cheap...like me...

Still nice to visit, of course. (-20 at home).
Cheap is in the beholder hahaha … I’m cheap to myself making me a sucker ! There is no way If I were you I wouldn’t go back to Canada till the weather warms up .. But then again I wouldn’t go to Cali for a vacation ,, Vegas yes , Louisiana for fun and partying and Possibly Tx for the Texas miles they have …. Florida stinks also .. maybe 30 days a year that are decent and that’s stretching it hahaha …

What are the gas prices in Cali now … Florida is under 3$ for reg.

Ofcourse the lower gas prices and saving on gas still gets eaten up by food prices ,, EGGS damn !

We typically have around 100-115 frost free days/year so that's a long time to be gone from home!

Headers don't seem to do much on these rigs anyway, and it turns out to be expensive horsepower.
I’m partial to the shorties ,, I prefer the look …. Not sure of the HP gains if any ,, past posts say not much ???
My thoughts on stories is the move the heat flow out of the exhaust and less heat in the engine compartment , they cool down faster . Easier to install I would think.. basically like the cast iron configuration making it easier to remove other components ..I don’t know what the sound like but I’m going to assume they sound better than factory cast iron ..
what’s anyone’s opinions or experiences using shorty header ?

Shorties look nice(r) than cast and will hookup to the oem exhaust flange.

Shorties don't enable more power, I.o.w. they do nothing.
I had a deeper sound with cast and full B&B than with their headers and the rest of it.
Still a nice/unique sound, I think.

Bling tends to be what I’m reading .. another guy on a form said good for 12 hp and 18 torque gains .. supposedly dynoed !
Bassini shorties the best and Billy boat long tubes ..moots f kept the cast iron were stated also ..
the price difference is large compare the shorties and the long .
As you stated the longs were not impressive to you .. What HP and Torgue gains did you expect and what were the actual numbers after installing your headers

I need a Time Machine hahaha the last set of header I bought were aluminum ( didn’t rust Wifey hahaha ) coated and cost $79 hahaha .. I remember the hooker header cost $59 all day long ..

Do you remember AP (Appliance) they were painted white and were made of the cheapest mild steel crap around.

I bought the B&B complete setup (along with 4 of their Hi-Flow Cats).
B&B claimed a whopping 50 horsepower increase on their test truck.
Maybe 50 with the complete setup but I did mine in stages and didn't dyno each stage. I do remember the cat-back was worthwhile. Fifty (my opinion) would be a stretch. 35 ish in my application (maybe), all in.

The Longtubes are for torque. Reversion pulse does most of the work.

If Strikers don't appreciate headers, the o.e.m. heads won't even know they're attached.
