So I threw a cat code yesterday P0432. I brought it to the dealer to confirm and low and behold, the passenger side cats are done. I'm sure the drivers side are on their way out too, as the previous owner was running the truck without a t stat for who knows how long. The dealer quoted me $1700+ to do the passenger side cats. So unless I can find stock cats cheap somewhere, all 4 are going out.

So now on to aftermarket cats. Does anyone know a quality set of cats that work with our trucks? I need a set that will pass New York emissions, and not throw any cat codes. (CELs drive me out of my mind). Thanks for any recommendations.
 
I'm running rear cats delete & pass emissions here in Arizona. Maybe you just need two. Anyone else in NY running rear delete?
 
I live in Long Island NY and have long tubes and high flow cats. I do not have rear cats.

It passes the inspection when plugged into the OBDII to check for ready codes. I am not sure how it would do on a sniff check though.

Cut the cats off, gut them, run a pipe through the middle of the shell & weld it back togeather. That will get you by the visual inspection if done corectly.
 
Ha, ha, move to TEXAS and no problem removing all cats. Ain't Texas a great place to live. No income tax either. :rock:

Stop inviting people to Texas, the dumbass transplants here in Austin are trying to sue Bbq restaurants because of smoke coming from their restaurants.
 
they don't visually inspect for them down here but I live out in the county. my last mustang had the cats off of it since I had 1500 miles on it. even with no cats and flowmasters it wasn't any louder than some of the jackasses around here with Z71s with no mufflers and exhaust tips you can boil crawfish in lol

You pass in AZ because all they do is check fuel cap pressure and make sure no codes are thrown.

If they tested the exhaust with a sniffer like they do in NY, you'd have a problem.

Forgive---my bad---but your right. "They" have certainly made Austin the bastion of liberalism. Since the good ole '70's I have repeatedly said, "come down here to make the big money but just don't vote." :chain: Seems Austin has lost that battle.

Billy Boat uses them on their 3" exhaust and dyno testing shows under 5 h.p. loss over full cat-less mids. Hardly enough to justify the headache of emissions. Only one on each side is needed.

Isnt Toyota moving down there from Cali? Better hope they dont start saying the air is to dirty and we need the CA emissions laws. Then you'll have to deal with piss water 91 and emission tests harder then the SAT's.

You guys are just seeing the beginning of what's been going on in FL for many years. This state now has literally 10 times the number of people it had when I first moved here.

FYI almost no native Floridians any more. And during the winter OMG ... Armies of clueless boneheads in rental cars ... Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ! Thank god it's almost April 15 when most of them go home. </soapbox>
