    What Y'all Doin'?

Sold my 05 quad-cab a little over a year ago, but thought I'd stop on by and see how things were. Now tooling around in a Procharged GTO - it's a neck-snapping good time, but I do miss the 10.

    Considering Selling my '05 QC

Wait, wait, wait... a Triton V10? As in a Ford 6.8L V10? How did he even make that work? The time and effort simply couldn't have been worth it.

Sorry, Lamborghini. Also, are you sure about "most torque" from an NA engine? I'm pretty sure there's been at least one V8 and a few V12s that have eclipsed it. Don't get me wrong, the engine is wild and lots of fun, but I'm really starting to think it isn't for me.

    Considering Selling my '05 QC

The engine really isn't "exotic" as it has its roots in the old, Chrysler LA motors. I mean, Ferrari helped design the intake manifold or something, but it's just a big old, cam-in-block, pushrod engine.

That's what they say, but you pay a lot less on other platforms - wish I had know that sooner. The SRT-10 is cool, but it's less about "being fast" and more about bragging rights, I'm seeing.

You think so? I like the ol' girl, but parts are hard to find and anything relating to the engine is disgustingly expensive.

    Well----she gone

I'll see if I can get a video soon (but it won't be the same as hearing it in person.) That said, the exhaust was done by a previous owner, and appears to be stock manifolds with rear cats removed, going into what appears to be (2) 14" Magnaflows. The sound is pretty deep at idle, but sounds...

    Well----she gone

You say the ol' girl had 184k on the clock? Is that on the original engine, no rebuild? If so, that's impressive!

    "Service" Quantity VS "Overhaul" Quantity

Call me dumb, but the '05 service manual mentions 8.75qts of oil as the "oil service quantity" and 10qts as the "engine overhaul quantity." Is this to say a recently "rebuilt" engine needs extra oil for the first few hundred or thosand miles or something? Ronnie, I'm sure you know the answer!

    dyno run

The horsepower is pretty decent, especially for such low boost, but the torque seems low

    2005 Service Manual

I see where you're still looking for a mechanic near you. I've watched several teardowns of these engines on YouTube, and honestly, they're just a big ol' cam-in-block, pushrod engine, like a lot of old V8s. They seem to be similiar to a Dodge 360, with (2) more cylinders. I'd wager any good...

    2005 Service Manual

Here's a link to my Google Drive, where you can download the 2005 Dodge Ram service manual. It's an 8,000+ page beast, that covers all Rams from that year, including ours. Have fun, and enjoy! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wpDxk-yf8eH_cl7qIpX2WdZYEe7ilO7I/view?usp=sharing

    New guy in South Carolina

I can't speak for him, but I chose my quad cab because I genuinely think they look better, being longer and having the extra doors and all. Also, the ability to carry a couple extra passenegers, plus tow a little is nice. And, for the final reason, they're USUALLY cheaper. I scored mine for $19k...

    New guy in South Carolina

When you say "lightening holes" that sort of concerns me. Are you taking a holesaw to your truck and cutting out discs of sheet metal? If you want more speed, instead of mutilating the truck, just save up for a cam, headers, heads, supercharger, etc. I know those are all very expensive, but it...
