i was wondering i wanna take off at least two of the cats or maybe all 4.what would be better and if i take off just 2 will i still pass emissions and will it make the truck sound better

I've got the 2 front cats left and it has an awesome tone..I almost think it would be too raspy if all 4 were gone.

All 4 need to go but it may not pass emissions like that.
A lot depends on what you want...what kind of emissions tests are conducted in your state, and what your individual taste is.
There are ways around the OBDII emissions check. If there is a sniff test you have a tougher time.
Aside from the emissions issues...if you want maximum power both need to go. You need to go to headers, three inch mid pipes and a muffler to suit your ear.
First check what kind of emissions test you have in Wisconsin...then we can go from there in helping you.

Just drop the rear two. They are pretty restrictive and easiest to deal with. They are not monitored so no O2 sensor problems. Only cost about $50 to do. So I hear since I would never mess with the emissions system.

Having all 4 gone did NOT make it raspy at all. With the Borla it was the automotive equivilant of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra.

if the rear 2 are off, with a new muffler, would I pass emissions in cali?
remove the stock mids with all 4 so you can put em back when test time comes...

I think it may throw a code for no O2 sensors in the rear on the OBDII prong, not sure....
But it's more likely that it may not pass the tailpipe sniffer test.... Hard to say...
I'd find a smog station that's associated with a performance shop....

If you delete the rear two cats, and use sims on your sensors the sniff test should be cool, the OBDII test will pass since you are not throwing a code...but, if they do a visual and are real sharp they will note that you have deleted two of the cats (only the sharpest will detect that). And I believe in California, it is a class II felony to alter your emission control system on any vehicle. What are the chances of getting caught...who knows...but it can be a "go to jail" offense...California is not very understanding on these emission issues for us hot rodders.

I agree, all 4. My Billy Boat catless mids are great. Talking with 3 or 4 different employees at B&B said that their catless pipes are no louder than the hi-flow pipes. I found that hard to believe, hence the reason I called back 4 times lol. It's a nice sound, noting in your face and real grunty @ WOT which is the way it should be IMO.
