You might also check out my Garage Sale thread.

I have an X-Metal shifter that is (from what I understand) almost identical to the B&M. It's new, and at a nice price.;)

BTW, many of the third gear issues have resolved nicely with just a shifter. You might want to try that first vs. pulling the trans. It's a whole lot cheaper and easier to try a shifter first.

Here ya go.... ;)

I would plan on replacing the stock slave cylinder with the Viper parts as well. The stock truck slave is plastic and the Viper slave is metal. The stock parts tend to get "spongy" and eventually break.... :)

Getting into third has been a problem from the start. You are right with the majority of us...the total fix is going to an aftermarket shifter like the B&M or X-Metal. The second step is the Viper Slave and Master cylinder mod. The truck has a plastic cylinder the Viper is billet. The the next step is going to the CenterForce clutch...

All three are usually the route in most RC's. You can do the shifter change first if that solves the problem super. But start saving for the Viper master and slave and Centerforce...the chances are great that you will have to go there eventually.

Stick with the Vendors on this site...we seem to be able to chase the bad ones away...you can't go wrong with Stinker, JMB, DC Performance, Roe...

Hennessey is a bad word. (A great marketer...but you are looking for things that work, right?)

By any chance are you close to Toms River?
