maybe i missed it somewhere but why not look at sail boats too? i'd love to sell everything and just sail away....just not gonna happen, at leat i can dream though.

yeah, that is why you go with a twin setup for long term seafaring.
on a good boat, you would not hear the engines.
and what happens when the wind stops?
the big things i do not like about sailboats, are being tilted all the time, having to actually work to sail it, and they are always smaller.

Ok, i have a twin setup in my sailboat but that is mainly for safety .... or cruising the Med when wind stops
and some time schedule demands it... or want to reach a harbor within bad weather forcast.....it are also 2 low-rev diesels for low noise .... Tilted all the time.... yes, a little bit as i've choosen a heavy displacement with big initial righting moment.... depending wind force i will be steady on 1 side , you will be rolling both.....
work ? no big deal , winches are overdone and long tacks give time....
always smaller ? given the same boat lenght , yes.... just choose your interior space you want and look what boat you're talking. Strange, you know, most people think living a boat in harbors....so why not the space as home... ok... but we found that once sailing a open interior space were you actually can fall is dangerous....so comfortly with grabs in reach ...
Also , a planing boat tracks himself steady in heavier wheather but i don't think we are discussing those gas spilling toys... :dontknow:

sorry Jake, just a little comment..... not the most beautifull , the most sophisticated... IMO a ugly rigged superyacht.... but again, very auto acting.... and... over 50 feet... so you can't handle it with 2 .... there go's you're privacy onboard.... sorry , not for me.

That is a difference between us, Norbert. You are more engineering and mechanically minded. I have more of a passion for aesthetic design and architecture, with a mind for function AND form.
BUT, I think I have a solution we can both agree upon.
There is a ship builder out of Norway that makes fabulous yachts.... their name is Nautor. And the Swan 53 would be my boat of choice (right now) to sail around the world..... if I had the money, of course.

never even knew they had that, will be sure to look into it for a vaction though, and if your out on the water and the wind stops blowing screw it just hang out it'll start back up. I'm planing to buy a small 22ish foot sail boat just for the lake maybe a few overnight trips during camping seasonZCx said:
