Another animal rescue. How do I get myself into this???

I'm a landlord (building manager). The owners changed the rules to no more pets as well. He asked to have all the pets removed. I said no way. The pets that tenants have at the time of the change had to be able to stay or I wouldn't. The landlord accepted it and we are still here.

That is one heartless landlord to do that to these pets. Scott I hope you find a home for the dog.

I don't know why he can't fight that new rule and be grandfathered in! People shouldn't have to give up their pets like that!

I couldn't agree more. Unfortunately, some landlords are real assholes!

Scotty,

I tried to reach you by phone but you were unavailable....

Here is the link to FBR Florida Boxer Rescue:

http://www.flbr.org/

They have extensions of themsleves all over the state of Florida......Here's a phone number to reach them: 1 888-612-5782

I hope they can succeed in helping out in this situation..... Rescue agencies can be great resources for adoption and interim homes for domestic animals that need a new home..........

I noticed that Demon8 said he would take Ivory if you could arrange transport.... I know that it can't be that exorbitant an amount of money. What if we started a collection here on the forum to contribute to Ivory's transportation costs....? I'm broke but I can send $25 to start things off......

Good Luck, bro....

Tim

Thanks for the suggestions and the call Tim!! These are both really good options.
However, I am guessing from the lack of response on the second one that it probably won't fly.

I will give the owner the info on the FLBR, and probably make a call to them myself.
So, unless I hear from someone soon, I hope that Ivory can go to the Boxer Rescue.

Thanks again Tim.

God bless the little girl, Ivory... I pray that she finds a good home....

There are just too many people who use animals and the mass production of animals as a source of income... To make matters worse, many of these pet purveyors are nothing more than inhuman slime.

They manufacture all these "disposable animals" that can be "tossed away" with impugnity. All the while, those individuals with a true love for God's creatures must (out of the goodness of their hearts) take up the slack and become advocates for these unfortunate creatures.

I do hope that Boxer rescue will save her..... This makes me literally :puke:

I was hoping to see a little more on your idea too Tim

I think it would be prudent of you (since you said you'd love to take Ivory) to do a little research and find a REPUTABLE pet transport service and find out what it costs to ship this pooch.

Then return to the forum, disclose the correct amount needed and begin taking pledges from our members who'd be willing to help in this endeavor.... I'll start the thing out with all I can spare which is $25.....

If this thing is going to happen, I believe the onus (responsibility) should rest in your hands as Ivory's new dad..... Scotty can volunteer in whatever capacity he feels comfortable.... (that's between y'all).

I just can't imagine what the fee for transportation is. So, that's your starting place. Google or check your local phone book for a reliable and humane pet transportation company..... and get references. Maybe use a company referred by a friend of yours....

Then get back here and tell us what It costs....

How much is it going to cost for the transport??? I'm not doing as well as last year but I'm still doing ok for now i guess.....

Can't keep a boy and his dog apart........

If he wants her, send me a text message ASAP! So that I can contact her current owner. I need to make things happen quickly if they are going to happen. And I won't be able to talk on the phone while I am at work.

If the transport thing is a possibility, I will need to know that soon too!

Thanks everyone for at least being willing to help out! This place rocks!!!:rock:

I'll pledge $25 to help with transportation. When we had 6(yes six) puppies dumped in our driveway this summer, none of the rescues or no-kill shelters would take them because they were full. Lots of people are giving up their animals because they can't afford to care for them any more. We were blessed and were able to place them all in good homes after about 2 months.
