ANY Turbo-ed SRT-10's Surviving Out There?

I'm with Dave T on turbos. I would never argue that for big power that they can't be beat. In fact my brother is getting twins put on is 03 Cobra as we speak. I just can't justify the seemingly huge extra cost involved. I'm not talking a single kit, but a full on twin that would make more power than Blakewilder is putting out.

I'm going to build my motor similar to his and just can't imagine spending that much more for more power that I won't be able to get to the ground. IMO our traction problems will have to be dramatically worked on before the benefit of twins can be fully realized and help convince people like me that the money is worth it.

When my brothers car is all said and done, custom twins... not a kit, billet connecting rods, better pistons, head work, cams, etc installed (850-900hp) is going to cost around $27,000. I could live with a number somewhat higher than that, but damn our engine build costs that alone.

I'm guessing the twin turbo 1500+ rwhp Vipers are using some type of traction control or a control that increases the boost as you shift gears so you dont spin. Thats the only way you can get that kind of power to the ground. I'm sure something is available but as of yet havent heard or read of any of us putting it on our high power rigs. Perhaps its something needing more attention to try out.

One way for me to offset the cost of twin turbos (a little bit) would be selling the Paxton seperately. With that said, you're still looking at 20K+ for all the internal upgrades and labor for one of these bad boys. That and some traction would be priceless.

I'm anxious to see how you "big dogs" do this weekend. Perhaps some reg cab and/or quad cab world records (what are they by the way?) will be accomplished.

Yeah the video of that UGR Viper launching is just sick! Gave me goosebumps. I'd love to see that bad boy run in person. Someone get a video please!!!!

I'd love even more for one of our trucks to do that...or at least get the front end in the air a little bit. Now that would be SWEET!!!

With a strong foundation built to take the pressures of twins I would like to see what exactly could be done..... Forged pistons with multiple coatings, stronger rods, stronger crank, modified piston ring package, cam with perfect lobe separation for 'boosted' inductions, and o-ringed cylinders. I think a custom intake design would fit the bill also, an intake with integral spraybars for water/meth for additional cooling.....

I'd bet the hp numbers would be unheard of at present.... 1800+hp anyone?? And the beauty of the package would be a powerband that would be near linear in delivery..... Like mash the pedal and the engine keeps asking for more........ Gotta love the 'sweet spot' in the map range of turbos selected...... LOL

That is a good idea. I would be glad to do something for the forum.

Steve Austin

P.S. I hope all goes well for your ride.

:hmmmm: I have a pretty good background with turbos........:sheep:

I am very much interested in going the turbo route.....:hello:

Well, UGR just went into the 7's at 183 mph with their twin turbo system. I'm sure they could build you a monster similar to that. You'll be in good hands with them.
