While in receiving he is not going to get much sleep. A forming D.I will teach him a little but no where near what the his real D.I's are going to teach him. They are going to keep him up, around 72 hrs. He is going to be moving around, and they are going to push him. He has to fill out all his paperwork, putting him in a Platoon. While he is there, he will speak to the Legal perso. asking him all the questions about the Recruiter, if he lied to him. Hopefully he says no to everything. He will run his initial PFT, hopefully he is in good shape and makes the mininum scores to move on. He will be in Receiving bout a 3-5 days, then move into his 13 weeks barracks where he will stay. On saturday, HE WILL MEET HIS SDI & DI'S , IT IS A FUN TIME. sATURDAY, sUNDAY & Monday are what we call forming, basically he learns everything over again. from how to walk, talk and sh*t. i have been a recruit & Drill Instructor at Parris Island. So if there is anything you need you let me know. I will tell you, if he writes you , and you think there is something that does not sound right, PLEASE GIVE ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLAIN TO YOU. the letters are going to be a bit crazy and please do not misunderstand what he might be saying. They will change along the way. you can give me a call if you got any questions 7039866210. I can pass some advice to get your son, on his way to honor grad for the platoon & maybe company. thanks ive been reading up on it, so i can sorta tell what they are gonna put him through and what they are trying to achieve. i have faith he can make it with no problem. as hund over as he was he was ready to go. he called me last night from montgomery at the hotel where they were staying. should leave out for PI some time today and get there tonight.
 
Ah the good ol' days, I can still remember my basic training almost 8 years ago now. While your actually there it kind of sucks, then once you get out you wish you could go back, it was alot of fun. Best wishes to your son, and you. Like somebody already said if your proud now wait until graduation day.
 
well i got the call last night, he made it to Parris Island about 845 last night. thanks again for all the well wishes. im sure he will need them in the coming months. i cant wait to see him again.

Just caught this thread. Eddie I know as a dad you will be anxious just as my dad was when I went off to basic training years ago. But it will make him a more mature young man. I think all young men 18 years old ought to go into the military. We will be praying for your family and son as he starts a new part of his life.

Eddie, just like Worm said, don't be surprised to get some fucked up letters hehe. There are times at PI when you are in some real lows, but there are also some serious highs. It's all part of it.

I can tell you that I never felt pride like graduation day, and a good deal of relief that it was over too LOL.

Let us know what battalion he ends up in, hoping it's 2nd to none hehehe.


Hey Worm, that legal thing with the recruiter questions must be new, they sure as hell didn't ask us about that hehe.

You know, I sometimes have trouble remembering what street I live on, but I will never forget boot camp. Let's see I had Sgt. Bell (longest arms I've ever seen on a human, even the wooly pully's wouldn't fit him hehehe), Sgt. Reyes (maybe the craziest Mexican on the planet, I'll never forget his wife dumping all his shit on the parade deck while he just kept screaming "you dirty cunt" at her LOL), and SSgt. Marshall, who inspired me then and still does. He was just a little taller than me (everyone is hehe) and he was a Marine! He could do one armed pullups all day long it seemed, and he could split the sleeves of his Charlies just by flexing, which he showed us when we were sitting around the night before graduation. These guys made a man out of me, I still owe them for that.

When you write him, just tell him to stay strong, that if some little dude like OC can make it, he sure as hell can hehe. (btw, I had to gain 3 pounds to pass my physical to get to boot).

will do, cant wait to get his address so i can write him. hell he's only been gone 2 days and i miss him. i guess its because i know i wont see him until march. will keep yall informed of his progress as i hear from him. hopefully he will do sumthin special and get a phone privaledge from time to time, wishful thinking anyway....lol my dad still remembers his platoon sgt.'s and DI's name's too. said you never forget them.
 
Damn his girl is a Hottie :D Tell him I am willing to " Take care of her " while he is gone :D Just don't tell him my named is Jodie....I never knew a Jodie but I gaurantee if I ever meet this guy I will kick his ass...........and all the ex Marines on site are giggling their silly Asses of right now :D I hated Jodie with a passion Damn it :eek: :D
