WOW!! That factory shifter was way worse than I thought (I understand it makes heavy compromises to be a factory installed unit).... as soon as I put in my B&M... its like a different truck!! Love this shifter! Very impressed! Nice and tight, and oh so crisp!

Glad I got my hands on one!!

What will break first is the Grade 5 bolts they give you to install it (not at the base, but at the lever to base junction). I am not a big guy, and I sheared off one of the bolts. Every now and then I shift quick and aggressively... and with the leverage against those two bolts, they couldn't hold. Grade 8 bolts now... no problems.

Enjoy!

I have to agree with you on the B&M. I just put one in mine this past weekend. WOW!! what a difference, no more 2nd to 5th shifts. Also my factory shifter always popped out of reverse, problem solved with the B&M. I bought an used Xmetal said to be third gen. Was horrible worse than factory.

Odd how some love some swear by the B&M and other's say xmetal all the way.

I Can no lift shift mine all day with the b&m so i have no reason to switch. When i miss a gear, it's my fault, not the shifter's.:joyman:

I'm now curious to see if my bolts will hold up at the base as said above. I abuse mine most of the time i drive it.

I guess I'm the only one that doesn't think the B&M is all that. I doing think I would have installed it if I had to do it over.

i have never had a B&M or X-Metal any Gen.

but i did have one badass CF handle shifter from JTSVP.

never tried the no lift shift, but i believe the JTSVP would work perfectly for it. i could go 2-3 just as fast as i could go 1-2. which was damn near instantanious. always wanted to try the NLS. but was afraid i would hurt my truck.

No lift is fun. Try it. Worse thing that can happen is it will hit the rev limiter if you miss. It's harder on the drivetrain but i have fun. If i couldnt abuse my truck when i drive it, id sell it.

I never shifted 2-3 lifting WOT yet. Always no lift.

Don't these truck stopping building power when you get past like 5600RPM

If thats the case, why even stress out your drivetrain for nothing.

Because it's fun, and it's quicker down the 1320. When i shoot for a time slip, i go all out.

and not sure how 10's make power, i drive a Lightning with a viper spec t-56.:creep:

Got any pics of the interior? I have owned two Gen 2 L's... I knew the swap has been done, but not by many.

You can shoot me a pm for info. Let's keep this on topic and forget what I drive. Too many trolls from a certain L forum come here. I'm not like that :)

I will say I'm using a master cylinder and clutch cylinder from a gen 2 viper car. Shifts fine. Took me months to find a used b&m.

I've had both the B & M and the X-Metal. B & M all the way. X-Metal was to loud. Grade 8 bolts are a must. I also melted the plastic gasket. Made my own out of header gasket material.
