Best tuner for stock QC truck?

I am interested in an SCT with a canned tune for my QC truck. For now, I would expect to add nothing more than an cold air induction kit (haven't found one of those, either... so please advise).

I plan to keep the truck relatively stock for the time being. I figure if I get an SCT now (with something along the lines of a Stage 2 flash for programming), I can always use it later with additional custom programming if I go crazy with a blower or something.

There are several tuners here that can do a sct for you,and go with the jmb cai and catch can.
 
If your lucky you could catch a tuner and dyno at a GTG. Torrie worked his magic on some members trucks this last weekend. He can tailor your tune specifically for your vehicle. He uses the SCT so if you get one of those he can load your tune into it. Don't know where your located but maybe a future GTG can put together a test & tune session.
 
I'm not a big fan of the SCT, they still got a few bugs to work out

Personally I would do a flash and then a vec III for the tune

but if you want the SCT, and you have a dyno close, you can do one of two or three things, one get a tune from Sean roe via email , or set up a date on a dyno and get with Sean Roe or Torrie and you can run on the dyno , send them the results via email they will email you back a tune to download, rerun the truck check it, and if changes need to be made they can.
 
Interesting to hear that there are issues with the SCT. Over in Ford land, they have been a proven commodity, so that's one reason I was considering that.

I would like to be able to flash the PCM back to stock when I take the truck to the dealer as well. I guess if I do a flash, that will require me to get another PCM correct?

All I want is an aggressive tune for a stock truck, modifying the trans tables, so that it also performs much better (quicker shifts, slightly raised shift points, no TQ management). I would think there are some guys who have canned tunes for these trucks that are awfully effective.

I am near Dallas, so who knows when there will be a Dyno Day. Plus, I really don't want to wait around, either.

Maybe I should just skip it all and get a Roe blower and be done for awhile. :) The only thing that bothers me about that install (I've been around wrenches for awhile) is pinning the crank. Drilling a crankshaft is a little intimidating.

There is nothing to it. With the tool sean sends you cant go wrong
 
I love my SCT. Bought it from Southern Hotrod (Eddie-reat guy!) and it came with a 91oct and 93oct S/C tune from B&G (Dave-another great guy!)for my Paxton. It was amazing the difference it made. The owner at JR Racing said it was the smoothest tune he's seen on the dyno-especially the A/F ratio. That's just mine. I can't speak for everyone else.
 
No problems with the sct just the users:captain: :aetsch: :ridinghorse: Plus if your computer has had or has a virus ican attach to you download. Always use a virus scan.:marchmellow:
 
there has been a number of SCt users, labonte, 1qksrt, Scrambler 1, to name a few that have had problems, sometimes downloading tunes, sometimes not downloading at all, sometimes only running half the engine.

SCT is new to the game , they have alot of parameters, but they are being updated daily.

Sorry still jsut not a fan of them yet:p
 
oh i get where your comming from when I first got mine sct the tunes weren't worth a shit and then it was 2 months to get and then when I would try to get a new tune never got a reply then I went to sean even before my s/c what a differance then when I got my s/c the tunes he gave me wow, and I have not even used the 100 with meth tune yet. Now if you got the bucks the new aen programable system on the fly,would be the way to go
 
My problem with the SCT was my PCM. Sometimes I have to try 2-3 times to load a tune. Turns out there are a few PCM's that have shown the same sensitivity to flashing (must have been assembled on Friday afternoon), if yours is one of them it can get annoying.
I have nothing but good things to say about the tunes themselves, my Roe tunes were very good and my A/F was close. Torrie was able to make it perfect on the dyno. Now I know that my mods are all working and my engine is operating safely. The only issue with removing torque management on the QC is that you have to be anal about fluid/filter/solenoid/band adjustments. TM is there to protect the trans, and the trans is the weak link on the QC's. I normally keep mine on the stock tune and I'm looking at band replacement at 40,000 miles.
 
You can find one here every once in a blue moon. Click the picture to go to JMB website for info. I'm not sure if a before and after dyno run has been done on this CAI to see what performance gains it gets you. It sure looks good though. The underhood bling is good for at least 15 hp.:D
