Here's a little picstory of our travels today. I didn't bring home anything but a little sunburn on the nose.
About 7:30A, Rachel and I hooked up with Keith (BEE0912) and his girlfriend at the local Bob Evans for some breakfast:
Several biscuits and cups of gravy later, we're on the road:
How is it that I'm always leading these missions? LOL
A view of our early morning 2-hour drive East, from Columbus, OH to Wheeling, WV:
PERFECT weather.
Yeah...perfect weather for COPS!
Holy crap did we see a lot of cops. IIRC, there were about a dozen on this 133 mile trip. They were EVERYWHERE.
Keith and I were good kids. We kept the cruise control at 70-72 and kept the officers happy:
I-70 East was closed just before Wheeling. We had to take I-470 around Wheeling as the detour. Thankfully it dumps us back onto I-70 E before we get to the Cabela's exit:
Can't miss that huge water tower:

The event is called "Show For Sight" and the entry money is donated to the local Lion's club for kids and elderly needing eye care (glasses, exams, surgery, etc.). $10...good cause...no problem.
Keith found the RumbleBee.org folks and we parked over with their group. They had saved us a few spots, which turned out to be a really good thing because the event was PACKED to the gills:
I got the truck parked and noticed another SRT-10 there! A silver RC belonging to a member here who reads a lot but doesn't post much was the only other SRT-10 at the show today. Very nice folks all the way around.
Rachel and I grab the camera and make our way to the rows and rows of cars, trucks, and bikes here for the show. I filled out the show entry form, but know that I'm not bringing home any trophy....esp. with the bugs from the trip and the craptastic wax job on the truck.
First up were the bikes. LOTS of chrome here. Lots.
(though, as the saying goes: "Chrome don't get you home".)
One can't fully appreciate how big a small block V8 is until they strap one between their thighs.
The Boss Hoss
Old school Indian
A really nice long-rake chopper
...wait a second....is that a.....
BLOWER!?!?!?
Yep! Too cool!
Here's the other side:
Looks like Boomer's been lowering things again.....
LOL
Though the cars were spread out and pics were taken at different times, I'm going to group them together here for ease on the eyes.
MERCURYS
A nicely chopped purple Merc...
It took me forever to get a pic of this one without people in it....
"I'll paint any car for $99!". Yeah...like this?
MUSTANGS
This guy was parked in front of my truck. While I'm not a fan of the actual shade of green, it was a gorgeous car (and sounded awesome!)....
Baby blue, baby!!!
A Mach 1 with a stellar paintjob. So good, in fact, that I had to take two pics of it.
CAMAROS
I've always been a fan of the 70-1/2 thru 73 Camaros, esp. the split bumper versions. This was a great looking RS I spotted...
This Camaro was almost showroom fresh! Even had that 'new car smell' inside. Kinda creepy considering it's almost 40 years old. LOL
Stunning yellow 1st. Gen. Camaro
Yenko eat your heart out.
CORVETTES
This white beauty tented my shorts. 427/4spd. Good thing I left the checkbook at home.
This one was awesome as well. Another 427/4spd. Fantastic...
A really nice black Vette. Again, 427/4spd., but this one wasn't quite so 'original'. I likey!
Rachel liked this red guy. 427...you've got good taste, honey!
I'm not sure what's going on here, and I'm *not* going to guess.....
PROWLERS
This Prowler had some great detail work done inside and out. Nice looking wood accents all over it....
Mmmmm...purple....
TRUCKS
A Lightning with some slick paintwork...
According to some of the regulars in the area, this thing even has a purple trailer that it gets hauled to shows on (LOL)...
(note the actuators for the tilt-front)
OTHERS
A vintage VW Bug, complete with vintage luggage!
Super-clean/minimalist interior here....
Anyone heard of the NASCAR Charger? Well, here's one....
Yep. It's a Vespa....
Come on...admit it- you always wanted a Vega pro-street wagon to take to the track....
Old school rides!
(pushing 800HP with those hair dryers!)
Damn...I'll bet even Brady could get laid with this thing:

Here it is: The Nash-amino!!!
Very nice looking (and sounding) Cobra replica....
A couple of 80's Chargers (back when they had 2 doors...heh heh)....
My little brother would have rubbed one out on the spot viewing either of those.
Speaking of my little brother touching his naughty place because of a car, I present to you a lovely Grand National....
Turbo'd V6...yummy!
Look! It's a Viper!
3 Viper engines there today. Nice turnout.
A very rare Pontiac pace car. Note the nose....
(if anyone has info on this car, please contact me. I forgot to take notes on it. Thanks)
Super-clean Lincoln Blackwood. Save for the grille and the drop, this thing is stock! Who doesn't love those 'doors'?
BTW- the tonneau is electric. Remote too!
Coming soon!
Get ready, city folks.
Looks like someone just got back from Texas...
Plenty of 'smokers' there today. Torque-r-us.
Check out this rarity: A '59 Bonneville!
IIRC, that's the stock exhaust!
My camera didn't really pick up the cool paint this car had. As you walked by, streaks of purple 'flowed' through the flames. It was very, very cool.
"Private Pyle! You've got to be [kidding] me. You can't give me one lousy pull-up?"
This red guy's paint was so nice, it looked liquid.....
More cool paint work...
I really, REALLY, REALLY liked this car: A Cobra Daytona Coupe!
Clone or not, the thing was kickass.
I thought this was a cool/interesting/odd color....
Looked nice though.
Check out the shifter knob!
Too cool!
About 3PM, Keith and I decide the sun has taken it's toll and we should get on the road. Just as we get back on I-70, I spot this custom van....
It's a little tough to tell, but it says "BARNSTORMER" and has a portrait of Lindbergh and The Spirit Of St. Louis on the back. Note the propeller bumper. Ultra-pimp avaition!
Back on the road again....
Smooth sailing (ahem....driving) back to Columbus.
I call Keith and tell him to pull up alongside so we can get an "action shot". LOL He's gotta fight off some traffic, and pass some clown doing 64 in a 65, etc. You know how it goes...
Anyway, here's some....action....
A few minutes later, I get this text....
Heh heh. Nice!
We take I-270 North back towards our respective homes. Thankfully we're being good kids with the gas pedals- it's Cop Heaven!
Yes- that's 3 cars pulled over in less than 30 yards. They had a full-on sting happening: (1) officer with the laser on the overpass; (4) officers sitting in wait about 1/4 mi. after the overpass. Perfect for nabbing.
Thankfully we came away unscathed (and unticketed!).
Thanks to the folks at the event for the great conversation and good time. The RumbleBee.org and DTW folks are very cool. Hang out with them if you get the chance.
Now it's off to find out why my reverse lights aren't working....
