CAI - Volant vs K&N?

Thanks Patrick, looks good my friend. ;)

I checked out JMB and am going to go with Justin's set up. I didn't realise I had shopped with Justin before (clutch and linkage upgrade stuff). I was very pleased, he was helpful as and his CAI set up looks very sharp. I'm just ordering it now along with the oil catch can upgrade and some other dress up engine bay items. Christmas shopping for myself lol. Thanks for the help, at least I got some eye candy out of ya! :)

I've the K&N drop in filter.
It doesn't make more noise then the stock one.

I just orderd the JMB cai ,pick it up when i'm in the US tuesday.
I orderd a lot of parts for the truck so i hope here in amsterdam on the way back home ,they wil not check my lugage:D :D :D .

Alot of yall want to dog out the volant cia, WHY? it sucks in more air than all of the cia systems being sold, more air means more h/p, the stock system is a CIA ,justins system is a cia system, as is k&n, ever one that owns a roe s/c does not have the stock system, so how can someone talk smack about any cia system they all do the same thing, SUCK IN COLD AIR, is that not what we are all trying to do to our motors. i think some people that dog volant out , just cant afford it. i love my volant cia system,

think you made a good choice with Justin's set up. i went with the Volant. not for the numbers they posted more for to make the hood scoop to work. got the Volant & very disappointed in the workmanship. worked on it for about 4 days off & on to clean up the castin flash, the idle air port was about half the size of stock nipple, inside that is, reamed it out & smoothed it. closed off & smoothed up the "extra" port hole by the TB, Eastwood hit the nail on the head with the right products to do that. had to do extensive cleanin & smoothin for the inlet for the scoop & the scoop itself. made a seal for the air filter where it goes through the air box for a bit more support & to help keep the hot air out. the main air inlet does not line up with the fender hole very good. made a gasket to seal it & blocked off the small inlet by the raditor, looked like more of a hot air sucker. painted the system & installed. this system makes a god awful vibratin/howlin noise, can feel it through the pedals @ about 2,000 + rpm,s. have not been able to figure that out & no responce from Volant to see what it would take to fix the vibratin/howl crap. also noticed a 5 to 10 degree increase of oil temp & a bit on water temp. they sent reg. hose clamps instead of hose clamps for silicon hose. pretty sure have felt some throttle responce with a bit of h.p. increase above 40 m.p.h. talked to a couple of dyno guys here & they said any scoop/front air intake system don't start workin till 40 + m.p.h. makin it very tough to get horsepower increase readins on the dyno unless one can do it in a wind tunnel.
had the K&N on my first truck. very nice system, great workmanship & just the sound of 10 hungry holes gettin air with it.
just by the photos i can see the quality of Justin's system & by the stuff i have gotten from him so far.
so bottom line, close to $600 for POS CAI. would not recommend it to any one.

i put my volant system on in 1 hour, everything bolted right up. only paid350.00 shipped, my system does not leak, clamps work great.

installed mine in about the same time. the $600 part is for the system, parts & labor to get ready to install. i have a dollar figure on my labor. the clamps they sent are tough on silicon because they don't have the shield under the band.
bottom line if you be happy with yours, great. i'm not.

Justins set-up is the way to go for more sound.I had a K&N and it was a lot of work. For actual gains a drop-in will be your best bet.Or do the modified stock box with extra inlet and a conical filter.Much cleaner system and should actually work (for under a hundred bucks,BUT does require some skills). Do a search, not sure what the thread was or who the guy was that posted it / maybe 99 something ?)

Cant afford it?? i had one given to me free , and i junked it.. and went with the k&n setup

My truck had the K&N CAI when i bought it...removed for the Roe....IMO K&N = POS.....I would not buy one after seeing what a POS it was on my truck..
