Cant wait to build my motor!

Hey Alfredo,

U do realize there a quite a few good machine shops less than an hour or two from you right?

Hell you have an authorized Illmore dealer like 30-40 min from you. Im sure if they dont do quality work they know a few close by.

In Yorba Linda you have a few NHRA build shops. If they dont know how to build a short block i dont know who does.

Then you have Boostpower in the valley i believe

There are also a couple in Orange County that are extremely good.

Maybe that helps. It would sure help with the costs of shipping. And being local maybe theyll cut you some slack and drop by and pitch in???

Just a thought.

SHU

you know kevin your right their is a ton around here. So many its had to choose. However not their is anything special about our V10 but I am inclined to send it to someone who has done em before and has no negative feedback on it. Arrow came up to mind cause they done quite a few but I'm also open to others. I do like the idea of being able to drop in check on my motor...
Stinker you are 1st on my list but I wanna see how things pan out with your builder.

Illmore huh? why does $$$$ come to mind when i hear that name:D

if anyhting i'll just send this to hennesey:congrats:

I dont know exactly what mine has cost as my builder hasnt sent me a final bill yet. I think its kinda strange as I have had my motor for about 3 weeks now. It all depends on how far you go with the build. Make sure you plan a build on what you want your end result to be and then build it even stronger. Billet mains, K1 rods, custom pistons, custom cam, heavier pushrods, Cloyes timing chain at a minimum. Then the rest is additional, like head porting, intake porting, bearing and piston coatings, valves, valve springs, roller rocker arms, etc.

I talked to DC Performance and asked for a price on a 1500HP build and there quote was $35,000. This included Striker heads by the way. I did the same build less the Strikers but included a full port and polish with good valves and springs to match 20 pounds of boost. Im guessing for around $15,000 Canadian and it was done less than 1 hour from my house rather than 3000 miles away. I did pull the motor, disassembled it and reinstalled it myself to save a few bucks too.

yeah DC perf is up there. Definately the place to go if you have the money.

I just want a 600hp motor that will last 50k miles and maybe take 3 hits of juice 1 a month or so:marchmellow:

I did the in frame I think parts where total about 3kor 3100 stinker would know for sure:p But with that being said the crank got fuggered up so they replaced it that was at 16k so when I did my build I basicly had 3k miles on my motor and everything in the upper half speced out plus I dont plan on going over 800 total so no need for me to do the mains. Also with everyone one who port/polished and went with a cam did not get so good numbers. I ll let you know what it does this weekend with the 6lb and 10lb stock cam/exhaust except headers:p I know I was at 5400 rpms before any singns of leaning out. if you are not going the chevy route buy the parts and then give them to whoever you chose.Just some fyi

get with Stinker you wont be dissappointed. hopefully mine will be ready the end of november. cant wait to see what it does.

Something to remember is that even though you may think you dont need the mains you still really should do them. It makes the entire engine much more rigid, and a more rigid bottom end makes power. If you ever decide you dont have enough power you can easily add to it without worries. It does cost a bit to have the mains done, but is well worth it in the end.

Prof has several posts and there are several threads devoted to what should do into a fully forged bottom end, do a search and I'm sure it will answer a lot of questions.
