I do know it was produced between May, 1918 to Oct. 24, 1918 ...... and that it was a REAL Government issue..... according to the Serial #.
Does it say "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on the receiver (the bottom part of the gun, below the barrel)???
No, but it does have a small horse stamped on the same side as the patent dates. Also, right behind the trigger, it appears to have the letter and numbers "S17" It still has the wood grips, and I have the original leather holster. This gun was my great grandfather's; who served in WWI. We have a picture of him on his horse, with this gun.
